SOURCE: where is the oil filter on my yamaha V-star 1100

On the right side of the bike (right side when ou are sitting on it) just above the rear brake lever behind a small circular plate. remove the plate and the oil filter is inside (you will easily see it). Warning---on these bikes you have to drop the front exhaust header and right floor board in order to change the oil filter unless you install a after market oil filter relocation kit. If you plan on changing your own oil it is highly recommended to install this relocation kit.

Sounds like it may be drawing air around the intake somewhere. Let it idle and spray around carefully with wd-40 until it speeds up. This will reveal the leak.

SOURCE: Starter is just spinning and not engaging

Assuming that no gears are broken in your flywheel, which is not likelly, I would say that you either have a bad solenoid, or not enough current going to the solenoid.

Make sure your battery terminals are clean and making good contact. Make sure the cables on your starter are tight and clean. If the solenoid is bad, or not getting enough current, it will not have the strength enough to push the Bendix out so that it engages.

Where does the oil come out of a 2004 Yamaha 1100 VStar Classic

Oil drain plug is located near the bottom of the engine, left side toward the front. The oil filter element is located on the right side of the engine under the cover toward the front. Changing the oil filter usually requires removal of the front exhaust pipe. There is an aftermarket filter relocation kit that replaces the filter element with a spin on filter that mounts on the front of the bike.

Change oil in 2004 Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic, procedure?

i think the oil filter is at the front behind a round finned cover, if you find the drain plug it should be right above it, it shoud tell you how much oil it takes right next to the filler
