Question about Symantec WinFax Pro for PC

Restoring sent and received faxes to fax logs

I have backed up all my sent and received faxes as *.fxd files in a separate backup folder.

When I re-installed Winfax I copied the stored *.fxd files to the DATA folder of the installed Winfax programme, to restore the fax logs as per Winfax instructions, but the sent and received faxes are not shown in the sent and received logs.

How can I get the old sent and received faxes to appear in the logs and so be accessible?

Thanks very much.

That's not the way to backup your logs. You copied only the fax images, and not the logs to go with them. This is a common error that is made quite often. Unless you have the original log structure, your data (logs) that link to the actual fax images (fxds, fxrs, etc.) are lost.

We cannot receive any faxes and get the error '

We've seen this error many times, and in most cases the problem is due to mismanagement of the send and receive logs. You probably have way too many faxes in your Receive Log (or, some corruption) You should read this

My phonebook and all my data fax are missing

I'd suggest a professional that is familiar with WinFax to do this, or if you have a backup in form of a "WFA" file, you can also perform a "restore" in WinFax. http://www.getfaxing.com/forums

Try FaxTalkPro. It imports WinfaxPro phonebooks and files, and the interface is very similar to WinfaxPro. The link to the trial version is:

Bringing DATA folder from another computer, or old backups

rename the existing DATA folder that is linked to winfax to another name, like DATAORIGINAL,
then copy your DATA folder over.
Make sure Winfax is closed when you do this.
Once it is copied over, start WinFax. Your data from the old faxes should appear in WinFax
