My henry hoover is stuck in the hi suction function, I have changed the hi-lo rocker switch with a new one, but it still will not alter the power of the suction. Any other suggestions what I can check?

right i actually fixed this..u need to take the top of as usual and unscrew all screws as u would to change the switch and also the screws for the motor cover, remove the motor cover, next to the spongey surround should be a small PCB..this should look like its burnt out, thats if it aint the switch, can only be these 2 problems; switch or PCB, u can buy one of ebay or

Hi, and thanks for getting back with a solution, do you mean this onehttp://www.espares.co.uk/part/vacuum-cle...

and is it simple to change? i.e. no soldering etc?

  • Anonymous Nov 17, 2012

Yes this is the part, I actually got my one from ebay, u can find it there, but its roughly the same price, the fitting itself is very easy, just take pictures so u remember how to put it all back together, no solder required, just spade clips, push on, This part is the PCB which controls the speed, there maybe a variation of it, so i would check with ur exact model no & serial no to make sure that it is a match, i don't think this should be a problem, but best to be safe,

I contacted the supplier , the ebay page where I got my one actualy lists the models, www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Numatic-Henry-Hetty-2-Speed-Control-PCB-Module-4-Tag-Genuine-Numatic-Part-208428-/170926441633?pt=UK_Vacuum_Cleaner_Bags_Parts&Chash=item27cc0284a1 , hopefully all is well.

..One more thing, I thought its worth mentioning, remember the rule about "static Charge" therefore contact with skin could short the PCB again ..i think??. but just to be on the safe side where rubber gloves when handling the good PCB,

HENRY VACUUM CLEANER HI LO SWITCH BROKEN CAN I DISABLE IT TO STAY IN HI MODE?

It can be disabled to stay in high mode, but you need to know what you are doing. It basically involves removing the small PCB and connecting the motor wires directly to the on/off switch. The hi/lo switch can be left in place (although not connected) or removed and a blanking plate put in it's place. You can leave a hole as this is a potential hazard and against government regulations.

How do i bypass pcb board on a henry numatic international"?"

You will need to remove all the wires off it and off the hi/lo rocker switch. Then disconnect to two wires on the opposite side of the on/off to the power in side. The two white motor wires then get connected to this switch. The machine will now run on high speed only when turned on.

My hoover smells of ammonia

Hello,
I too have a problem with a bad smell coming from my henry hound hoover, but thats probely because i haven't used a hoover bag. I took the cloth filter out, banged all the dust off, then sprayed it with 'RugDoctor' pet stain remover for carpets and upholstery. It still smells a bit, but not half as bad as befor. I have now ordered a reusable, zipable, washable cloth hoover bag especially made for Henry's. It cost £8.80 from ebay with free postage. Hope this helps Nikki.

Henry Hoover throwing trip switch in house

Sounds more likely to be the switch than the motor, especially if it is the model with the top switch rather than the side "rocker" switch. If you are in the UK, speak to the technical people at www.a1cleaningsupplies.co.uk they can post a replacement. Otherwise outside or even within the UK you can contact the manufacturers technical people. Website is www.numatic.com

Electrical Burning Smell from Henry HVR200 Vacuum Cleaner

Hi! Highly unlikely that you need a new motor.  Highly likely that you need new carbon brushes.  The smell is caused by excessive sparking between the worn brushes and the copper commutator segments.  Most carbon brushes (and from memory I suspect this includes Henry's) have a copper wire buried in their last few millimeters, and you really need to change them before that becomes exposed.   The longer you run it like this, the more likely you are to damage the commutator, so change them sooner rather than later.  When you change the brushes, you can smooth off the commutator with very fine abrasive paper (the objective is to smooth it, not scratch it!), and then blow all the dust away (or **** it away if you have another vac, of course).  Incidentally, you don't say if you are using a paper bag in your Henry. Some people, because the top-hat filter is so good, try to manage without a bag.  This is false economy!  You should always use a bag. I hope this helps! I value feedback, so please remember to rate this response.
