Scandisk is for checking and correcting the errors (bad sectors) in a disk . To start scandisk 1. Right click on the specific drive and go to its properties. 2. then Goto the Tools menu tab and then click on "Check Now" button and then mark all the checkbox and then click on Start.

How do i use a scandisk to backup all the files on my computer. Have never used one.

It would be impractical to backup everything that is on the computer as it will contain a lot of program files and unwanted junk that will take you more time to backup and wont work right.
You need to setup a backup for the important files that you need and save of the disk space on the scandisk as well.

Either you can do this manually for all the files you have or call 1-877-805-1027 for toll free help.

I did a complete recovery on my computer and it was taking two days. It kept saying, 'applying setting " but never did So I turned the computer off. What should I do know.

Open "My Computer" in Windows XP.

Find the icon for the hard drive you want to run ScanDisk on. You can run ScanDisk on the system's primary hard drive and also on any secondary hard drives or external hard drives. Right-click on the icon for the hard drive and select "Properties."

Choose the "Tools" tab from the hard drive properties window. The ScanDisk utility can be activated from the Error-checking box at the top of the Tools tab. To begin, click the "Check Now" button.

Note the two check boxes displayed. You will want to choose the "Automatically Fix File System Errors" box. This will perform a basic fast scan of the drive, which will take only a few minutes.

Put a check in the "Scan for and Attempt Recovery of Bad Sectors" box for a more thorough scan. With this checked, Windows XP will take 10 hours or longer to run ScanDisk depending on the size of your hard drive. Run this if you have noticed a problem with the hard drive's performance. For regular checks, run the basic check most of the time and the longer check only occasionally.

Hit the "Start" button to start ScanDisk.

Wait for Windows XP to finish running ScanDisk and view the report. ScanDisk will tell you what errors it found and fixed. Click the "Close" button when are finished viewing the report.

I have a asus eee900 netbook ,it will not boot up

Its going into scandisk for some reason. It may not hurt to let it run the scandisk, what this does is it checks your hard drive for errors or bad sectors and repairs them.

If you do not want to do this just hit any key when prompted.

If you choose to do scandisk it may take an hour or so.

Verbatim 8G USB memory storage stick not working

There could errors in the drive. You should either run a scandisk on it or format it altogether. Either should get it back up and running is it is a genuine device.

1. To check for errors/scandisk right click on the icon of the memory stick, select properties. Under the properties menu look for Error-checking and select check now. The check disk menu pops up. See that Automatically fix file system error box is checked. Then click on start.

2. If you decide to format the memory stick just right click on its icon and select format. But see that you move you vital files from it first else you will loose them.

I accendentally knocked out my scandisk and it won't work

Good day sir/maam, you must not remove the sandisk especially if its reading the disk, data can get corrupted. In doing so may destroy even your sandisk cruzer. Try the unit in other PC. do it several times. if still cant be recognize, bring it to your dealer, they have in house tech that may save your disk. if not you can demand for a new one if its under warrantee. As for your file, sad to say this you may need to back up more often, especially important ones. hope this helps

Scandisk e280

Try this;

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.

You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.

- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
- Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
- Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.

Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.

Best of Luck.
