Daylight / night focusing problem meade

Hi all
Hope some body can help me , my wife bought me a DS2114ATS for xmas allthought it looks well looked after not a mark on it alloriginal box etc. I can't see thing with it, and now my kids are starting to moan as they were all excited to see the moon .

With the ma25mm eye piece in i can focus at an object about 20ft or so away, but when i try to focus at a building 4 - 500ft away it is blurred vision any further away from this you can't see a thing.

When looking at the moon or stars there is just a blob.
Am i doing something wrong or have we bought a duff. I have looked through the destructions and as far as i can tell the collimation looks ok (as far as can tell) have tried adjusting secondary mirror but no difference, hav'nt touched the primary mirror but looks central. PLEASE somebody help, thanks

First read the manual-- cover to cover:
http://www.meade.com/manuals/TelescopeManuals/Reflectors/DS2000%20manual.pdf

Then during the daytime-- put the lowest magnification eyepiece you have into the telescope(it's the one with the largest number written on it)-- and practice focusing on a distant object at least 100 yards away.

You have a GOTO scope but you must follow the alignment procedure in the manual for the scope -- or it will NOT find anything. The moon should be your first target at night--

Also suggest that you contact a local Astronomy club and attend their star parties-- they will be happy to help you learn how to use the telescope.

Why can't my brand new Meade Polaris 127 telescope not even show me stuff in broad daylight or night. No matter the lens, eye piece, eye, object near or far. I only see eyelashes sometimes if I try.

I suspect that what you have is a combination of two problems:
1. you are very far out of focus,
and
2. you have too much magnification.

Here's what I would do.

Point your scopt at some distant trees. Use your lowest power eyepiece, and run the focus all the way from one end to the other. At some point, you should see the tree leaves....

I can't get my Meade 10" Lightbridge telescope to focus in the eyepiece. I bought a Meade Laser Collimator and Collimated it last night outside before I tried to observe Jupiter and it still didn't...

Even if the scope is a little out of collimation it should still focus. Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. DO NOT use a 2x barlow if you have one.

Try again--- you can do this during the day time on a distant object and practice turning the focus knob slowly left and or right until you get a sharp image.

The higher the magnification the smaller the "sweet spot" with the focuser.

How do i use my meade DS2114 ATS-TC

Here is the manual:
http://www.meade.com/manuals/TelescopeManuals/Reflectors/DS2000%20manual.pdf

Read it TWICE! Then Calibrate Motors using the same power source you will use outside at night.

Then Train the drives, then enter time, date, daylight savings time =NO right now.

Do a two star automatic alignment.

Cannot focus a Meade Refractor "Electronic Digital" series

All of Meade's manuals are listed here--
http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.html

Take it outside during the day time-- put the eyepiece with the LARGEST number written on it into the telescope--- this is the LOWEST magnification.

Point it at a distant object and practice focusing-- the moon should be your first night time object.

Meade DS2102 Telescope lost teeth for focusing in and out

It might be easiest to see if someone is selling one on Craig's list or ebay.  You might be able to find one used where the telescope is OK, but the motorized drive is broken and replace the telescope.
Here is the contact information for Meade:
Contacting the Customer Support Center     Customer Support representatives are available to handle your calls and letters regarding any Meade product 7:00am to 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. To contact the Meade Customer Support Center, please write, call, or fax. Our information is as follows:

Meade Instruments Corporation

Irvine, CA 92618

You could try calling them and see if they will sell the part you need for the focuser.  The focuser is called a rack and pinion focuser.  From your description it is hard to know if it is the long linear gear on the draw-tube (the part that holds the eyepiece) or the gear on the shaft of the focusing knob.  You will need to be able to describe that to them.
I hope that helps.

Unable to use the telescope properly

Here is the Meade manual-- if this is not correct-- look at the full page of manuals on the Meade web site and find your telescope.

Missing the eye piece for the Meade saturn 60az-m

ebay is a great resource for eyepieces, i would suggest a 26mm ma.
the eyepiece should drop in. if not you might be missing the image erecting diagonal. when the eyepiece is installed you should be looking perpendicular at the tube.

ebay, cloudy nights classifieds, are good places to look, i used an anteres crayford focuser for a 8" newtonian. this did require some modifications to the tube.

You must CENTER the alignment stars -- usually they are near -- but may not be inside the eyepiece.

Centering the two stars makes the GOTOs accurate.

Make sure time, date, site, is correct--- and if your scope has a "training" routine in the manual--- be sure to do it.
