I have a Thomson DTI6300-16. We set it to record a programme which was only 1 hour long, but it is telling us that the recorded programme is 2h 12mins - and in fact it seems to have used even more disk space than that. The main problem however is that we cannot play or delete the programme, and doing either, or just moving the cursor onto this programme results in the unit freezing and the only way to unblock it is by turning off at the mains.
Can you help ?

Sounds to me like your hard drive is full. Do you use the topup tv part of the box? If not, deselect all the topup tv channels. This will free up a significant amount of drive. Failing that, you'll have to delete some of your programs, sorry! To deselect topup tv channels; Go into the menu option, Customise Top Up TV Anytime, and de-activate all the selected channels
You can still record all the freeview channels. What has happened is you've run out of room on your hard drive. First you must deselect all the top up channels; menu > 'Setup' > 'Customise TUTV', and
un-ticking all boxes releases space and produces a report of '100%'
free for recording. The time available for recording depends on the
size of the hard drive and amount of data saved in each recording and
15% of disc space is not counted. This is for software or programme
information etc. and, even when not subscribed, ads from TUTV are
downloaded to library. However they are replaced or removed
automatically, and messages are deleted after a week. Also delete all the recordings in the library you don't need anymore.
After Re-loading the Freeview Channels on 30th Sept, the disc space was nearly full on The Thomson DT16300. Go to Set up in the Menu, choose 'Personal Favourites' this will bring up all the stored Channels, For some reason a lot of the Channels are marked 'ON' each one takes up disc space. De-select every one, the channels stay in the recorder but release disc space. I now have 86% free.
Marriott, You will find that it is only one recording that is causing this. This also happens to my box as well when we tape emerdale on a Monday. look through what has been taped and find out if the minutes used is correct for that programme. if not then you need to do the following in very quick procession.
Press the delete button and confirm as quickly as possible when you scan down the the programme that has not recorded correctly.
Hi! This is not a great solution and a bit long winded, but aimed at those who've lost the receipt! Start by recording a new programme - the box should still record. Now the corrupt recording is not the first one in the library. When you press library now, all appears to be well. You can find which is the corrupt recording by scrolling down slowly. The corrupt one should be the one with no thumbnail picture (plus it'll be the one that freezes the box up again!). Restart the box agan and press library. If you have recordings before the corrupt one you should be able to scroll very quickly past it and delete them now. Now the corrupt programme is at the bottom of the library list - you can't delete it but at least you can avoid it now...
Like I said far from ideal, but it works on mine. Still no word from Thomson. Hope this helps.
