Question about Kenwood KDC-MP528 CD Player

1 Answer

Kenwood KDC-MP528 I recently dropped the faceplate and the display completely went out. Everything still works fine but just no display. I need to know how to turn on the aux input setting without using the display.

Something similar to a user manual for most cell phones would be perfect for the fact that it can help navigate your way through the menu options in the order that they appear on the device itself. I downloaded a user manual online before but it was not at all useful. Help me please!

  • Blake Bargas May 29, 2007

The owners manual does describe where and what the aux. input does, but without being able to see the display this is useless. When you push menu for 2 sec. while in standby mode, and are taken into the menu, now what? what buttons do you push, is it menu , how many times, then you use the knob to choose on or off, but if you cant visually see the display you are left out in the dark. Someone who has one of these stereo's KDCMP528 and can see the display please take a notepad and 5 minutes to help me out. How many menu options are there, order they go in? Please its not that difficult.

And for gods sakes stop saying that it is described in detail in manual, it is described in detail, assuming you can see the display.

how do i get the aux cord to work on my kenwood KDC 528

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2014

Is there anyway that another faceplate could fit into the CDM9801 Possibly CDe141 I want to know for the purpose of the aux input If it does not fit are there any other solutions

  • Anonymous Mar 24, 2014

unable to get aux input, can't open menu to change it, it only goes to the "code set" while I hold the menu button down (to enter menu settings). I am trying to get the aux input to work and also get the HD radio function to work. Both need access to the menu functions.

Hey, take it easy. I am just trying to help.

    Here is another solution:

In the lower right hand or the faceplate , there is a button labeled 'SRCE' ,
It is also on the upper right hand corner of th eremote control.

If you press this, it will change the source sequentially in the following order:

    SIRIUS tuner (option )
    TUNER or HD Radio
    CD
    CD CH (external CD, optional)
    Auxiliary input (for KDC-MP5028/MP528)
    Auxiliary input, (external )
    Standy (illumination mode only)

    I hope this helps.

(BTW it is described in page 9 and page 30 of the manual)

How do I unlock my Kenwood KDC-MP528 car stereo

To reset the code do the following:
1) Turn on the car.2) The faceplate rotates out and the CODE - - - - prompt appears.3) Press >>' and Auto keys simultaneously on the faceplate and hold for 4 seconds. (If the faceplate rotates back into the console push on the upper left top edge of the faceplate and it will flip back around. Press the Eject button and then try it again.)4) The screen will still say CODE, but the - - - - will disappear! When this happens press the 5 key on the remote twice and it enters a K on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.5) Press the 2 key on the remote three times and it enters a C on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.6) Press the 2 key on the remote once and it enters an A on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.7) Press the 7 key on the remote twice and it enters an R on the display on the faceplate. Need to get the security code for Kenwood KDC-608OR

ok I just found this info online and they say it came from the service manual for that stereo so I hope it helps:

You will need a Kenwood RC-410 remote control. This remote works on KDC-519, KDC-X859, KDC-319, KDC-4019, KDC-MP919, KDC-X759, KDC-419, KDC-X459, KDC-MPV619, KDC-MPV7019, KDC-2022, KDC-2022V, KRC-435, KRC-535 and KDC-X959

To reset the code do the following:

1) Turn on the car.
2) The faceplate rotates out and the CODE - - - - prompt appears.
3) Press >>' and Auto keys simultaneously on the faceplate and hold for 4 seconds. (If the faceplate rotates back into the console push on the upper left top edge of the faceplate and it will flip back around. Press the Eject button and then try it again.)
4) The screen will still say CODE, but the - - - - will disappear! When this happens press the 5 key on the remote twice and it enters a K on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
5) Press the 2 key on the remote three times and it enters a C on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
6) Press the 2 key on the remote once and it enters an A on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
7) Press the 7 key on the remote twice and it enters an R on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
8) The radio goes into All Off mode and you are set! Hit the SRC button on the faceplate to select CD, Radio, etc.

Display screen not working

Sounds like you might have a bad connection where the faceplate connects to the unit, or the faceplate is bad.

Face wont open

if you have already tried hitting the reset button you should first remove the faceplate and check the contacts on the main unit and the back of the faceplate. if they are dirty clean them (with power off) with contact cleaner or a small eraser. if your lucky that will fix the problem but most likely you have a bad ribbon cable. this cable attaches the faceplate contacts to the main unit and flexes as the face tilts. after time these cables get small cracks that may not be visible. you can usualy buy the part from a place like pacparts.com and replace it to solve your problem.

Kenwood kdc-mp528 amp/speaker problem???

This is a common mistake. This problem indicates that you are using the solid blue wire from the head unit to the remote turn-on on the amp. This is a power antenna wire that only receives power when on FM radio. You need to replace this with the Blue & White wire from the head unit (power control wire) to your remote turn-on on your amp. This should solve your issue.
