First of all there is no DVD drive on the compact Digital Media Player second it only supports file formats like MPEG4, AVI, WMV. DVD is MPEG2. So if you want to play your DVD movies you will have to convert them into one of the above formats using a computer before you load it on to your Media Player. You can download this software for free from the site given below. http://www.moyeamedia.com/video-converter/avi-converter.html
You cannot just copy a DVD movie to a MP3 player to play the movie on the MP3 player. The movie need to be converted to a file format that the MP3 player can play. Get the updated version of the Arcsoft Media Converter from www.usasupport.philips.com. Even so, you will need to split the video into 15-minute chunks, and convert the smaller chunks. This player is really for shorter, YouTube-style videos.
Hi there, got the same problem too - have tried to put the cinema and podcast add ons to no effect, re ripping dvd didnt help either. if you get any solutions can you email me on email@example.com its driving me mad!
I dont like it to use Windows media player and to synchronise.
In Settings -> System you need to set USB on 'PC Hard Drive'
Then you can use My Computer to find the Movies, just copy and past them in Archos -> Video map. Notice that Archos can't play any movie, you need special extensions.
I kow 1 exension, I convert my movies always in that 1 so Archos can read the movie: AVI MPEG4
There are more, but I need to find out.
Anyway, good luck trying to 'install' video's on Archos and also watch them ;)
Try MacVid.com and see. I just tried the demo download to convert some of my .mov movies into mp4 for the iTouch and it worked great. They might also do DVD movies as well--they say they can convert from any format to mp4 format for iTouch. Good luck!
Do you have a model # on that JWin - I wasn't aware that they made portable DVD players.
Generally speaking, though, you would have take the movie file from the Ipod and copy it to your computer if it was not already on there. Then from the computer (with a DVD-ROM drive), you would burn the file to DVD and play it on the DVD player.
You can't play video from the Ipod directly to the portable dvd player, because the iPod does not have a video out - it only has an audio out - sorry.
need all ok software or dvd fab to make movies rip to hard drive then bakc on that in certain formatt that manel says only does certain formatt u must convert vidoe to that format with all ok converter s ok and then dvd fab to make dvd to avi then whatever formattt u need its tricky
Once you have downloaded the file to your PC simply connect your archos to your pc using USB cable provided, select PC hard drive mode, and simply copy or drag and drop from one destination to the other. Your Archos usually appears as J:Archos604WiFi if you have a built in card reader if not it may appear as an earlier letter in the alphabet.
