To remove these, press and hold the icon until your phone twitches (or vibrates briefly) and then drag them towards the menu popup (at the bottom of the screen). You will see the pop-up menu button becomes a trashcan. When the icon gets close to the trash it turns red. Just plop it onto the trashcan and it's gone.

On most Android tablets, you simply press and hold the icon until the screen changes modes (to arrange). Then you should see an option to delete/remove at the top of the screen. Just drag the icon to the top of the screen and it should leave the home screen.
Removal could vary depending on the phone you are using and the version of android you have, and which screen the icons are on.
If the icons have been added to the home screen, on my S4 just press and hold the icon that you want to remove (just a couple of seconds), then drag the icon to the bin at the top of the screen.
If you want to prevent icons being added to the home screen when you install new apps, goto the google play store on your phone, and click on 'Play Store' at the top of the screen. Then goto 'Settings' and untick 'Add icon to Home screen'. Any new installs will be in you applications folder but will not be added to the home screen.
Tap the white-on-blue up-arrow near the lower-left corer of the screen, then drag the unwanted icons to the icon bar at the bottom of the screen. When done, tap the white-on-blue down-arrow at the upper-left corner.
Bear in mind that not all icons can be removed from the home screen.
The hard drive has issues, or windows files have been corrupted, Remove hardware from the laptop and reseat it back in place, sometimes this is enough to get it started, if no change! do a operational install with the cd installation disc, if this fails the hard drive should be assessed for replacement.
You may have accidently put an app icon to home scree.
You can delete it by press and holding the icon. A trash icon will appear at the buttom of the screen. Drag the icon to the rash icon and you are done.
It wont delete anything. It will just remove the icon from home screen.
Also, to add any other icon on the home screen, go to menu, press and hold the desired app icon and it will be on the home screen.
This phone is running android 2.2 im assuming. The voicemall Icon can be romoved from your home screens by long pressing on it and moving it to the trash area depending on the launcher. If you are trying to remove the app itself this is not possible unless the phone is rooted. Im not sure if this is advisable though. If your phone is rooted a safer measure might be to use bloat freeze to freeze the application so it never runs. Or root uninstaller will allow you to remove the app all together.
hope this helps
