They have a small fuse situated on the circuit board inside the back of the microwave this sends the power to your microwave.

What is wrong with our LG microwave oven ms 5646 it gets electricity, but it still doesnt go on?

Check the main fuse for continuity - inside the cabinet, near where the power cord enters. Stay away from all high voltage components as they can carry a charge of 4000 volts, or more, even when the oven is not operating.

My oster OGB8901 microwave is having power situations it sometimes the power works and sometimes not i can hit the top and the power will come on than in the middle of cooking something it (the power)...

Hi, Could be a timer issue. Don't hit it anymore you will do more damage to it or even get a shock. Take it to a repairman or someone that has worked on one. Good luck.

Emerson microwave 1100 watt microwave keeps running even when timer stops bought about 7 months ago

Hello,

the problem of this unit is power related.

First, remove the unit's power cord from the wall, wait for about 30mins, then plug it back in. It may cool by then and might power on. If it doesn't power on, plug it into another outlet, to make sure there electricity entering into the unit.

If plugging into another power outlet doesn't power it on then the unit is most likely having a power problem.

When electric current comes from the power outlet into the cooker, it goes straight into the power supply board which then circulates the current into the unit. So if the cooker doesn't power on, the first thing is to make sure there is power entering into the machine.

So check the power cord, if it is a 3-pin plug, it must have a fuse in it. check the fuse if it is not blown. if fuse is intact, then power supply board should be checked.

If any machine or electronics device doesn't power on, it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter and continuity tester in order to read the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Regards.

Food does not heat up anymore even when running

To correctly sort the problem out, you need to replace the magnatron and capacitor with the HV diode. That will definately sort the problem out. Do not do this repair without supervision as a microwave is truly a dangerous item to repair.(Make sure the plug is out when inspecting the components. You must be exact when ordering the componenents. Read off the numbers to the supplier to get the correct items.(Thats if you insist on doing it yourself).

The cord become hot when it is in the outlet

If the cord is hot you are pulling too much current to power the microwave oven. Make sure the microwave is plugged directly into the wall and not an extension cord or outlet strip.

No power

No power at all? ... gotta ask, assuming it is a counter top model...if you plug something else into the outlet does it work? That way 'we' know there is power getting to the unit. If something else works in the outlet, (assumng a 2 outlet receptical in the wall) plug the microwave into the same outlet as the other item that worked. If still no power, you probably blew the internal fuse in the microwave.

That said, they are there for a reason, chances are there is another problem in the unit that needs to be fixed. An appliance repair man reently told me they are only expected to live 5 or so years anymore... pitiful....

Peace,

Powers on will not work

Check the breaker . A microwave oven should have a dedicated circuit plug a lamp in the oven plug in if it comes on you have another problem if it wont come on flip the breaker they can trip just enough that you cant see it is tripped flip it all the way off then flip it back on again see if it works. You might have to do this a few times even if light clock comes on it might be tripped just enough to not let enough power come through use a multi meter if you have one to check the current.

Doesn't "nuke" anymore

Unplug it. Take off the metal cover. Look for a fuse. Probably blown, replace it with same size. If it blows again, scrape it.

Lights, Fan works but it doesn't "nuke"

Your magnetron may be shot. Best to go shopping. Not many repairable parts on a microwave. Plainly, it's more expensive to have iy checked out.

Microwave won't come on

I am a recently retired appliance engineer of 20 years, i am reluctant to help with microwaves because of the dangers, the store electric even when unplugged, but it sound just like an internal fuse, these are special quick blow types, can be bought from most electronic high store shops, and replacements must be exact match, if a replacement blows there is another fault and don't recommend self repair work with safety and remove the plug first etc oh the fuse is just inside following the mains wire in, and normally on a small circuit board if i have helped please rate me
