Hello mljackson197,
This indicates a problem with the pickup head. First I would suggest cleaning the laser head with a disk made for that purpose. If this does not work, then I would suggest (if you have a background in electronics) taking the cover off and checking the bias voltages on the laser pick head (comparring them to the schematic values). What I believe is happening is just a dust problem, however if it is a circuitry problem, contact the manufacture or use the schematic/service manual to locat OEM parts.
I would, however try to clean the pickup head first.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,
Shuttle83

I battled with the other posts, and found this worked for me to get to regionfree9.
1. Switch machine Off, then back On. 2. Wait until screen, without any prompting from u, shows NO DISC at top left, then dissapears it, then shows NO DISC at bottom left corner (the screen at this point is now still and doing nothing). Do NOT press the tray OUT then IN. 3. Now press "REPEAT", and then the code for your region. I bought my machine in South Africa so my code is 57538 (region2). If I bought the machine say in India I'd put in the code for region5, and so on for the other regions. In my case a 2 then appears on the top left corner of the screen for a few seconds, then dissapears. ONLY once it dissapears do I press 9 on my remote (9 is for regionfree). 9 then appears briefly at the top left corner, then dissapears. 4. Switch machine Off then On again, which finishes off the project.
5. The first time I tried, I pressed 5 instead of 9 by mistake. So, I first had to get back to region2, then did the above steps again to get to 9. To get back to region2, I had to do the above steps and use the region2 code 57538 (in other words, not India's code for region5). The number that showed at the top left corner was 5. Once it dissapeared, I pressed 2 and after a few moments the 2 appeared, and then dissapeared. Then I switched the machine OFF then ON, and was ready to start the whole process again from step 1 above.

The details below only work for the DVD Region (dependant on your Firmware) and not the Blu Ray.
1. Ensure that there is no disk in the tray.
2. Switch the player on.
3. Wait until the main menu page appears and the player stops doing anything.
4. Press the REPEAT button - just above the TV channel selector at the bottom right of the controller - and enter the players region code from below on the number pad.
5. The the players region code should appear at the top left corner of the screen.
6. Quickly enter a "9" to make the player region free. (Just try pressing 9 on the remote controller until you see 9 appear in the upper left corner of your TV screen.)
7. Open and close the disc tray. Power down and power up again.
All region codes are as follows
1 - 2 9 3 3 4
2 - 5 7 5 3 8
3 - 5 6 7 3 2
4 - 7 6 8 8 4
5 - 5 3 8 1 4
6 - 2 4 4 6 2
