How to create a bootable USB using Vista or Windows 7

Having a bootable USB is very essential, especially if you are a Netbook user. Using bootable USB to install an operating system (OS) not only makes the installation faster, but also saves a DVD.Creating or using an USB drive to install Windows operating systems is very easy if you follow the below mentioned steps.

Here we assume that you are using either Vista or Windows 7 to create a bootable USB.

1. Insert your USB (4GB+ preferable) stick to the system and backup all the data from the USB as we are going to format the USB to make it as bootable.

2. Open elevated Command Prompt. To do this, type in CMD in Start menu search field and hit Ctrl + Shift + Enter. Alternatively, navigate to Start > All programs >Accessories > right click on Command Prompt and select run as administrator.
3. When the Command Prompt opens, enter the following command:DISKPART and hit enter.LIST DISK and hit enter.Once you enter the LIST DISK command, it will show the disk number of your USB drive.
4. In this step you need to enter all the below commands one by one and hit enter. As these commands are self explanatory, you can easily guess what these commands do.
SELECT DISK 1 (Replace DISK 1 with your disk number), CLEAN, CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY,SELECT PARTITION 1ACTIVE,FORMAT FS=NTFS(Format process may take few seconds),ASSIGN,EXIT.
Don't close the command prompt as we need to execute one more command at the next step. Just minimize it.

5. Insert your Windows DVD in the optical drive and note down the drive letter of the optical drive and USB media. Here I use "D" as my optical (DVD) drive letter and "H" as my USB drive letter.

6. Go back to command prompt and execute the following commands:

D:CD BOOT and hit enter. Where "D" is your DVD drive letter.CD BOOT and hit enter to see the below message.BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 H:(Where "H" is your USB drive letter)

7. Copy Windows DVD contents to USB.You are done with your bootable USB. You can now use this bootable USB as bootable DVD on any computer that comes with USB boot feature (most of the current motherboards support this feature).Note that this bootable USB guide will not work if you are trying to make a bootable USB on XP computer.

Viewing videos

There are several reasons that this might happen.

The most obvious is that the videos are encoded with a later codec or container format that was never available under OS 9. You might still be able to find transcoding software that can translate the files into a format that can be read under OS 9, but that becomes more difficult as time passes and support for older, less secure codecs is dropped.

Less obvious is if the OS 9 install has been designated as a Classic environment or so-called "Blue Box". While such System folders can remain bootable, there are fundamental changes made to the OpenTransport extensions such that they are no longer fully functional in stand-alone mode. OpenTransport was not just for networking, but was also very much involved with multi-media functions under OS 9 and QuickTime.

An excellent resource for vintage and obsolete Apple systems and software is Low End Mac . Not only does it include archived material dating back to 1997, but also has an active community and sponsors several mailing lists on particular models and OS versions.

My usb trancend would not be open and cannot be formated.what would be the cause and solution for usb is transcend 16Gb.thank you for you assistance.

When this happens, usually it's because it is trying to use a drive letter that is already in use (usually D,E,F) You need to change the drive letter that it is trying to use:
Just to be certain it is not seeing it try this.

Right-Click "My Computer" and then Left-Click "Manage".

Select Disk Management.

Look on the right-hand side and see if you have a 4GB hard drive with no letter.

If you do, Right-Click the drive and select "Change Drive Letter or Path". Give it whatever drive letter you like.

Now, if it is not shown within Disk Management, you probably have a defective Flash drive.

C omputer won't re boot, it stays in DOS, command line says hit F1 but nothing happens and the command appears again.

This is what usually happens when your operating system is corrupt. See,it is failing to boot because the files responsible for boot are corrupt. The solution is to have the operating system reinstalled.

Hi mame is robert and i have a HP dvd6000 NOTEBOOK i day i was playing my movies and my omputer said ineeded a product key this my first computeriuv it idk what happen now i cant do my work at school ?...

Hi Robert!
It seems you're using a trial or pirated version of Windows... What you should do is buy a legitimate Windows software from a Microsoft distributor (or any other operating system of your preference) and install it on your computer.
If it's indeed a TRIAL (evaluation) version, you could extent it in 30 days (up to 4 times), by following these steps:
  1. Go to the start menu and type CMD
  2. Right-click on Command Prompt (which will appear above) and choose Run as Administrator.
  3. A new black windows will be opened (a console window). Type in: "slmgr -rearm" (without the inverted commas) and hit Enter.
  4. Type "exit" and hit Enter again.
You're good to go for another 30 days...
Afterwards, you'll HAVE to buy a license to keep using Windows - or reformat your computer!

I got Embarq DSL a few weeks ago, i can get online for a minutes then the internet will go out, i have to reboot the modem several times before it will come back up, ive tried changing where the modem and...

If Embarq cannot or willnot help you, drop them and get another service.
First connect your modem directly to the computer to isolate the problem. If it solves problem then difficulty is in the router. Then contact the router manufacturer.

If problem persists the Embarq should help you.

Are you on wireless? If so, is your connection coming and going?

Anyway I would copy and paste your email to Notepad, Wordpad, or whatever you would like right now so you don't lose everything you typed. Just a temporary thing until the other thing gets worked out.
