Setup 64bit pass phrase on Belkin router. All wireless devices say,

Do your other devices support 64bit wep, and are you selecting that as your encryption type on each device. For example I know on my cellphone I have to specify the type of encryption that is used. You might also log into the router, just to double check the encryption type and the pass phrase (even if you are spelling it right).

Need wep key for siemens 504

The numbers you wrote is the URL of the website. If you type this numbers into the address bar of your browser and hit enter it will take you to the website. The wep number it is asking, is a password. I do not know whether when you set up your router, you did the full configuration.
Easy way would be to call the customer service of your router. In any case, it works something like this. With the address (which you gave above) you reach a website. That is where you configure your networks (WEP or WPA) password, mac filtering etc. Once this set up, you are ready to connect wireless devices. Every time you try to add a new device it will ask for the WEP or WPA password according to the security you would like. You have to enter the same password for that new device to connect properly. (This a safety feature. You can keep an open connection, but everybody in the area of your router will get free access to your Internet and your network) In case of doubt, call customer service and configure the network. Mac filtering gives better security, but you will have to go to that website and add that devices mac address there before you can connect. Believe me, it is not all that complicated as it sounds. Good luck.

My pc has locked me out of the internet and i unfortunately didnt save the WEP key, the router is a NetgearWGT624 v3

The WEP encryption key is stored in the wireless setting in the Netgear wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Netgear router and open IE browser and enter the Netgear configuration IP address ( default login = admin default PW = password (type in the login password if you had changed it).
In the wireless encryption setting note down the encryption key. Use this key to configure the wireless card in the computer.

If you forgotten the PW then you can reset the router back to the factory configuration by using a sharp point and pressing the reset button at the back of the router until the LEDs flash, then release the Reset button.
Then login as previously stated. You can then create a new encryption key. I suggest you use WPA2 or WPA encryption key because it is much stronger than WEP.
I also suggest :-
Change the default password
Change the default SSID
For additional wireless security - enable MAC address filtering (this allows only listed MAC addresses of wireless cards to connect to this router - add the MAC address of your wireless card to the MAC address table in the wireless router).
Don't forget to configure the wireless card in the computer with the router's SSID and encryption key.

How to secure the wireless network in ITI ADSL2 Router..

you can secure your wi fi netwrok with 2 method
(1) configure your router as WEP'
(2) Enable MAC addreses security.

You can access your router with following default link.

for belkin router

type user name as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"

For WEP security.
Configure router as WEP type .
Then go to security then add encryption key it is your password to connect wi fi netwrok.

For MAC security
go to advanced security in wi fi then enable MAC security then add your MAC addreses in allow list with which you want to give permission wi fi netwrok access.

You can find MAC addreses of computer with following command .

Go to start menu then type "cmd" in run then you see command prompy.then type in prompt "ipconfig /all"

I can't login with my MAC.. is there something I must do different with the password? I can login with my Ipod and other P.C.s are able to login.. Just my mac can't... PLese advise

If you are connecting wirelessly, make sure the built-in airport on your mac is enabled. Then proceed with the wireless settings. Please check if the wireless settings on your airport matches the wireless settings of your router like the SSID and wireless encryption. If your encryption is WEP, you need to put a "$" sign(without the qoute) before the WEP key like $1234567890. You don't need to put the $ sign if your wireless encryption is WPA. You might as well try to connect your mac wired to the router and verify if it is online. Verify that your mac doesn't use static IP address on the airport's tcp/ip, it should be on Automatic or DHCP.

Thank you for visiting Fixya.

Problem connecting to Router with Mac Airport

The $ sign or a hash character before the network key only works with WEP 64 bits on Mac, if you enabled WPA(is it TKIP or AES?) make sure that your Mac computer supports that kind of authentication if not try to lower down the security level on the router by using WEP instead of WPA.

Connecting Ipod touch 8(GB) to Wi-fi

After fighting with this for the last couple of hours I have my ipod touch working with the netgear DG834G(v3) router. The fix is a bit odd and I am not entirely sure why it works but I thought I would share and hopefully it might help you out …

First I think that the WEP encryption simply does not work between these two devices and causes some very strange behaviour – the WEP 'authentication type' setting I had on the 'wireless settings' page was set to 'shared key' – I flicked this to 'automatic' & strength to ‘128 bit’ - hit apply and finally I found I was able to connect without an error message (after inputting the correct WEP key). Unfortunately the DHCP did not work correctly after this and I kept receiving IP addresses in the range of 169.254.x.x (an internal default) rather than my networks expected 192.168.0.x range. The Ipod touch couldn’t find any DNS servers or connect to the internet.

To get round this I set the router ‘security options’ to use WPA instead (WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)) instead of WEP. Set the new WPA password at the bottom of the wireless settings page - again hit apply - and configured the ipod to use the new password and WPA PSK instead of WEP. This worked fine – although it does mean I have to change the settings on all my other wireless devices around the house!

The weird thing is that although the router isn’t using WEP encryption changing the 'authentication type' setting back to ‘shared key’ in the WEP menu breaks the WPA connection again – very odd? I blame netgear and their obviously crazy wep code :)
