Question about Philips 60PP9202 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Power and tubes power up then turn off

Thanx in advance if you will help.

I have replaced the convergence ic's (stk392-150) and 4 resistors (6.8 ohms). But when I plug in the cord and push the power button, the red, blue, and green tubes turn on for about 3 to 5 seconds (as if they are warming up) then they go out and the power button starts blinking 9 times repeatedly. If I unplug the tv for 15 seconds then plug it in this whole process repeats with the exact same result.

Your advice will be helpful. Thanx again...

Depending on where you got STKs even New can still be bad! Also what was STKs # that was in TV? If 110s,120s.150s use 180s if 020s use 040s other wise use same number on STKs.STK392-560 use same/ STK392-570s Use same.

Hi, my rear-projection TV (LG 56NZ23RB) initially had problem with convergence. I bought STK ICs, desoldered one and resoldered a newly bought IC. I tested it, but heard a chirping sound and would not...

There are several other components near the Convergence IC's that usually need replacing. These are fuses that look like resistors. There are also some resistors that can go bad also. You may have a solder bridge on some of the pins on the IC too. It's easy since the pins are so close to each other. Shopjimmy. com has repair kits that address your problem

When I turn on my tv the picture is distorted for about 5 minutes and then is fine. Can you help? Thanx!

It sounds like bad solder connections in the convergence section but that depends on what you mean by "distorted" - do the colors become misaligned (especially visable with on screen print)?
if so see below info:
convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

PT53wx53g. green & blue convergence don't respond

You may need to check the two small resistors on the front of the baord as well. They are the power connections to you Convergence IC's, I have seen these charred and open. Just check them with a DVM or an Ohm meter to see what value they read. If they are close to 2 Ohms they most likely will be OK. But the other blue resistors will need to be replaced if they do not measure around 2.2 Ohms.

Please rate both solutions, as we are here to help you with the most information that you can get.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Cannot adjust horizontal blue convergence on WS 55857

You still have bad grounds on the ICs. Or maybe the solder has fused another pin. If not bad grounds on the ICs you have missed them elsewhere...Really concentrate and look for these bad grounds and check your caps with a cap check. And power resistors too!!!!!

My 45 inch rear projection mitsubishi has perfect blue and green tubes. The red one, however, is all wavy now as if the convergence is severely off. I am assuming that the red tube needs to be replaced and...

The red color has gone crazy on you because your convergence IC's have gone bad.<p>
These IC's operate at a very high temp, and usually only last 4-5 years.  <p> If you remove the back of the set, you will want to look for the BIGGEST heatsink in there, on that heatsink, you will see 2 lage IC's , probably STK392-110, or STK392-120's or something close...regardless - you can go on ebay to order the new ones, but MAKE SURE they are Genuine SANYO IC's and not counterfiet cheapies. the cheap ones may only last 2 months..<p>
You will also need some "Heat transfer paste" - you can pick this up at radio shack. <p> Once you remove the old IC's, test all the large resistors near them.. pull one side of the resistor out of the board so you can check it out of circuit. they will usually have the value in Ohms, printed directly on the resistor, but you may have to use the resistor color code to find out what value they are....However, usually if there is any damage, the resistor will look like it has been HOT or fried. replace the IC's and any bad resistors, and you should be good to go.<p>
If after replacing the IC's and any defective resistors, the convergence is still bad, make sure to use a multimeter to check ALL fuses on the boards, --- sometimes when the IC's go, they will take out a fuse to the convergence power supply. If you find any bad fuses, replace them accordingly! <p> Hope that helps!

50h72 replaces ic's but still don't work

Did you replace the convergence resistors along with the Ics? Also if you replaced the ics with open resistors you have most likely ruined the new ICs. You can get a convergence repair kit for your model at the following link which has the ICs and the resistors for your model, and they provide free tech support and instructions.
Heres the link.

HCM4215W convergence issue

mute 183 power.

You may have done alignment previously in service mode and not initialized or saved correctly. add/erase saves

The test for convergence ICs working is if the V and H can be adjusted for all colors in different picture quadrants. The adjustment may be so far off that it looks broken.

There may be low ohm resistors that have increased in value. Some Samsung chassis use low ohm resistors that have built in Zener diodes for stabilizing the voltage drop across the resistor. Replacing with ordinary resistors (as the schematic shows) may cause poor convergence that can be adjusted after warming up, but always varies noticeably when going from cold to hot.

Using the correct part number from Samsung will ensure that the right part is in place.

When 1 or 2 ICs fail with no resistor damage, only small or no adjustment is necessary (if the replacement ICs are well made and imitate the original). When resistors burn and are replaced, adjustment is required more often than not.

Call someone that has aligned and repaired numerous Samsung RPTVs and your problems will be over.

Toshiba 43HX70 convergence fix - now no video

I think the hardest to solve problems are those I installed!!
Where do we start==no lecture, but I never change a resistor
unless it has changed (in value!) Use a digital meter and check
the value of each resistor.Toshiba is a bit confusing as to values
of each resistor and location in relation to the IC's.Go over your own work first.Check micro fuses in power supply=F851,F852,
etc. Carefully resolder steel jumper wires at board edge, they feed
B+ to convergence amp circuit.Be sure to verify no shorts in pins
of IC's.(use your meter).........T

Convergence lost

If all 3 colors have gone out of alignment, it means that the power supply for the convergence output IC's has stopped working. This usually happens when one of the IC's shorts out and overloads the power supply, causing the diodes and/or low value resistors to burn out. The bad convergence IC should be replaced and the power supply restored by a qualified tech familiar with Mitsubishi projection sets. When I do a housecall for a set like that I charge $150, but shops in your area will vary so be sure to ask around.
