SOURCE: whirpool washer LSN8244AQ0 motor spins but agitator does not move.

Ok this is a old school machine. Have a look at the drawing below. So no agitation or spin? How about the pump, does it drain? Now if it drains and thatis it then item 13 below is a coupler that is probably out. You can pull the machine out and tilt it back and using a flashlight examine for black dust and touch to see if it is soft in spots and the two white flanges are intact. You may have to remove the pump and motor to inspect.Use part 285753A .

SOURCE: GE washer GNSR2140A0WW wont spin/agitate but fills and drains

Hello, your problem is going to be with the lids switch, in this machine it is going to be a magnetic contact. You can confirm this my pulling the front panel off and accessing the wireing to the lids switch, If you have electrical knowledge bypass the lid switch using a wire nut and run the machine. If all is ok make sure you relpace the lid switch since it is there for a reason. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!!

Hi,

You just do this

  • Test the lid switch
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drover belt (belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission
  • Inspect the Agitator
  • Inspect the pump coupling
  • Test the Water switch level
Good luck !!!

Washer won't spin

Check the washer motor. Make sure that the motor is getting correct voltage and is working and spinning when you turn it on. It sounds like the motor is bad. You can remove the back cover to get to the motor to check it out

Non-spinning washer

Have you checked the motor? Make sure that the motor is turning properly and also make sure that your belt it not to tight. It should have some give in it. If none of that works then look at the main bearing under the pulley on the drum

GE washer does not agitate or spin

There is a fusable link that is known to blow. The replacement is available. Open the front access panel, Remove the tape from the wires that are taped together near the top of the wiring harness, about 3/4 of the way up. You will see a wire that is covered with shrink wrap (White with Red stripe I think) Cut it out, check for open circuit with an ohm meter. If it is open, (no continuity) Replace it. I used a regular piece of wire as a jumper for testing till I got the new fuse. The fuse kit I got comes with 2 of these fusable links. One is for a spare.

Washer won't spin

Could be a worn belt,
Empty the machine and tilt backwards, you may need some help to do this.
Remove the belt and check, some times these appear OK but may have stretched.
Chech the agitator pully, try to rotate, will only move in one direction, see agitator moving as you do, get the person helping you to see this.
Check the motor moves freely on the tensioner, motor will appear to move 2".
Fit a new belt and try.

Everything is working except the spin cycle

Sounds like the spin coil/brake solenoid is burnt out or broken. This is a coil situated on the motor plate under the machine with a lever attatched to it. When the machine goes into spin cycle, this solenoid pulls the brake away from the outer drum to allow the drum and agitator to spin together. The shaft that goes into this coil should move in and out freely. If tight, replace spin coil/brake solenoid.

GE Washer Spin Cycle Problem

gnarly, do you have the updated motor, harness and start cap? If it goes into spin and does this chunk a chunka chunka bit. Take a meter to the white and white/red wire going to the motor. If you have a steady 120V, replace the motor with the new kit. What the motor is doing is jogging between high to low speed. Catriver..post back.
