Will not come out of tow/haul mode

Recently, my 2000 Z71 4WD went into Tow/haul mode and will not clear. It did clear on it's own while driving approx 60 MPH but and
stayed off until the next day.
The following morning it showed it was back in tow/haul again and
will not clear. That was about a week ago.
A mechanic friend suggested removing battery cable for 10 minutes
for the computer to re-set.
I tried that yesterday for approx 20 minutes and it still won't clear.
Thanks for any assistance.

It's the little wires that come out at the bottom of the shift handle inside the steering column cover. The wires usually break and in your situation maybe pinched together.

How to fix my 2001 Chevy Tahoe tow/haul keeps coming on when not pushed. If I leave it unattended will it cause my transmission problems cause I just had to replace it

Tow/haul mode enables the operator to achieve enhanced shift performance when towing or hauling a load. When tow/haul mode is selected, the tow/haul switch input signal to the body control module (BCM) is momentarily toggled to zero volts. This signals the powertrain control module (PCM) to extend the length of time between upshifts and increase transmission line pressure. Cycling the tow/haul switch again disables tow/haul mode and returns the transmission to a normal shift pattern.

Would't trust it , take an have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes checked by a qualified repair shop with a factory or professional scan tool . Auto part stores can not check BCM code's .

What would cause my TAHOE TOW/HAUL mode to engage on its own?

You need to have a diagnostic scan tool hooked up ,glitch in one of the control modules or a wire in the circuit shorting to ground ! probably something simple but hard to find ! With a factory scan tool they can check the input signal to the BCM ,PCM .
Tow/Haul mode enables the operator to achieve enhanced shift performance when towing or hauling a load. When tow/haul mode is selected, the tow/haul switch input signal to the body control module (BCM) is momentarily toggled to zero volts. This signals the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) to extend the length of time between upshifts and increase transmission line pressure. Cycling the tow/haul switch again, or cycling the ignition switch disables tow/haul mode and returns the transmission to a normal shift pattern.

2004 ford f250 superduty 6.0L dsl tow haul light flashing and doesnt want to go into reverse

That light means that the shift points have changed on the transmission. This is to get better economy when hauling. If it wont stop flashing then there is a valve in the transmission that is bad or sticking. You will have to have it removed and overhauled..

Tow/haul does not work on 2000 chevy truck. whereis fuse?

I had a problem with my tow/haul button not working. I came to find out that the gear shift had cut the wire running to the button in two. You may want to check that.

Tow/haul light wont turn off

I have found that on three silverado's there is a plastic clamp on the bottom side of steering column where the wires become broken and can short out. You have to remove the column covers to see this, it should be claser to the lowe dash trim panel area needs a shifter to repair unless you can fix that little wire!

Transmission tow/haul mode

Hi, the problem is when you are tilting the steering wheel all the way up it's putting to much tenstion on the wires that come outof your shifter that run to the tow/haul button. i am 99% sure your wires are disconected. rewire them and add some extra wire so next time there will be more slack in your wires.
