Question about Maxent MX-42VM10 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

I checked power supply and power assy for voltage and its fine. I removed the Y-sus board and started checking for continuity, I started with the fuse (good) Then resistors, I found one very small resistor solid green no markings and it read infinity on two different multimeters. That resistor is locate very close to the fuse area next to where voltage plugs in to the board. I?m reading about capacitors and how check them next. Is there anything or a different way I should approach this board?

    I will definitely follow your recommendations. It is a slow process for me because am learning as I go

    And I want to make sure no other boards are also damaged.

    I will post my findings hopefully a few days and rate it.

The small green resistor could be a pico fuse, check the markings on the board and look for an F and a number next to it. If that fuse is blown, it means something (Mosfet, transistor) got shorted to blow the fuse. To measure capacitors, you will need a capacitance meter but they rarely become shorted, so I would focus on the mosfets and transistors.

Hi:
The most common problem with plasma televisions is the Y-sustain board and the power supply.
The Y-sus board is the board to the left looking at the set with the back off. The Power supply is usually in the middle of the unit. Disconnect the Y-susain board from the Power supply and then try turning on the unit if it comes on and stays on then replace the Y-sus board. Also with the board disconnected check the DC voltages from the power supply to the Y-sustain board the voltages are usually on listed on a tag on the panel inside of the unit. They are VA, VE VSUS etc .,

If you have a bubbled on you r Y sus board you need to replace the cap if you can find it or you can

To make a long story short originally bought the LG du-42px12x with a bad ysus board(no picture just sound) replaced the ysus now the picture and sound work great but there are colorful dots all over the...


Sounds like the y sus was blown out but what cause it. Were you careful when you were checking voltages? As long as you didn't short 2 components together, your y sus should be fine. Unless the y buffer up and/or down blew them out. Even the panel could blow it.

Basically you need a scope to adjust the ramps and everything. You can adjust VA and VS with a meter. If you don't have access to a scope, then just start changing the ramps etc by eye. It might take a little bit to get but eventually you'll get it.

Lg 50pc3dhas a sound but no picture


Failure in either of the following can cause no video output.
  1. Display Panel
  2. Y Drive Board
  3. Y SUS Board
  4. Z SUS board
  5. X Drive Boards
  6. Tape Carrier Package (TCP)
  7. Main Board
Try these if you have electronics background :
Note: Touch your fingers repeatedly to a ground connection point or unpainted metal in the product before proceeding.
  1. Unplug the unit.
  2. Remove the back cover by removing the screws holding it.
  3. Disconnect the LVDS cable from the power supply or from the main board. LVDS cable runs from the right bottom of the power supply to the upper left of the main board. Power supply is located at the upper center of the unit and the main board is at the right bottom of the unit.
  4. Plug the unit back and turn it on or the unit turns on automatically.
  5. Look for the Control Board. It is located right at the center of the unit below the power supply. It has a LED on it.
  6. On the Control Board at the right bottom of the MCM chip, the big chip right at the center of the board, you can see two test points. Short across the two test points.
  7. If there appears a picture of cycling colors and patterns, the Y-SUS, Y-Drive, Z-SUS, Power Supply, X-Boards, TCPs and Panel are all OK. The Main Board or the LVDS cable is defective.
  8. Check LVDS cable continuity.
  9. Replace Main Board if LVDS cable is good.
  10. If no picture of cycling colors appeared on step 6, some adjustment is off or some portion of the signal is missing.
  11. Check fuses or continuity of voltage supply lines going to the X Board/s, Y SUS and Y drive Boards and Z SUS Board.
  12. Replace blown fuses, connect broken lines, and resolder loose solders.
  13. If no apparent damage is found, ask for a qualified or experienced technician's service. Massive and sophisticated tests and voltage readings are required and proper tools are needed such as oscilloscope to find which signal is missing. The parts to be tested are prone to handling damage and requires proper handling and testing.

I have a plasma tv 42 in and I have a black screen. What is wrong?


There are a lot of possibilities. If you could give a lot more detail that would be great. Also how long have you owned the tv? Does the tv turn on at all? is there audio? Does the onscreen menu come on? Once I have more information I can assist you further.

Y-SUS board: How to determine if it's fried?


Your solid green "resistor" is probably a fuse and will have an amp rating stamped on it, if you can read it with a magnifying glass. Before you replace that you need to find out what else on the board or somewhere else in the TV is blowing the fuse. Resistors have bands to denote their value unless it is a large power resistor and the value is written on it.

Power supply board led green light blinks 3 times.


vscan is a voltage used to setup the picture for the panal. It goes to the y sus board. The problem is at the power supply or the y sus board. You can check these with a meter.
