The remote control is dead or the remote CPU chip that control all functions is dying and only some of functions buttons will work,some wouldn't anymore or the rubber insulater between the rubber buttons and the remote circuitry board are worn out and make no more contact.Can u take the remote aparts?Yes.Check all the rubber butttons insulater see if they're still good.Tries clean the remote PC circutries board with some rubbing alchahol also the battery - + connections too.Wait like about 20 mins for the rubbing alchahol to completely dries.Putting it back together again an putting in new batteries,the remote control might work again.If not have same result.Try website like Remotes.com to buy an original or very close compatible remote for a replacement.

Try fixing your old remote control.
Take off the battery, open the back of your remote, lift the circuit board, clean the green painted part with cotton balls slightly damp with rubbing alcohol as well as the black thingy behind your remote pad, let it dry put it back together, replace with a new battery and try if it works.

make sure the remote works first!
one way to check it out is using your cellphone camera and point the remote to the camera and see on the camera for any light that come from the remote.
make sure you have good batteries

You may just have a bad remote or the IR sensor in the TV may be bad. Bring the remote to a store that sells Protron and try it. You may be able to get a new one if it is bad

I have a pltv-32 that cannot be fixed the board is out and there are no parts available. If you want the remote control you are welcome to it.

what kind of universal remote did you use? I am having the same problem. I use my dvd/vcr remote but i have to get up to adjust the volume.

Have a naxa 13in. tv/dvd need codes for remote.
