DVD hookup to LCD monitor only appears in black and white!
I have a Samsung series 3 - 330 LCD monitor. When I hooked up my DVD/VCR player, the picture is in black and white. I have tried everything to get color picture, but I can't. The DVD/VCR is also Samsung, but is about 6 years old. How can I get color picture?

I have this model..was trying to hook it up to a directv hughes receiver. After a day of trying and many curse words I found that using this hookup works . Hook up your satellite connection to you tv as usual...Now plug rca cables(red, yellow white) into the corresponding holes on the BACK of the Directv receiver ..now plug the rca cables into the FRONT of the Magnavox player...you will only use find holes for the white and yellow(that's ok) Now hook up up the dvd player to the tv using the rca connection back of dvd/vcr player..or if your tv only has a coax connection you will need a rf modulator available at walmart etc. You will run the dvd/vcr on L2. The key is the connections to the FRONT of the dvd/vcr player..I hope this helps..:)
First you are going to need RCA plugs they have RED,YELLOW,WHITE connect those on the INPUT ON the other machine, then connect the output to the TV, this should help you out, please rate accordenly thanks for allowing me the pleasure to assist you today!
Ive got 3 samsung tv's (lcd, plasma, DLP) and I use HDMI cables on all of them. Its the only way to get the full potential out of the tv. When you use the red/white/yellow RCA cables the signal is anolog aka "old technology". Component cables are good but HDMI is the best. HDMI is a digital signal and thats what all the components that go with the tv should be run on. If your dvd player does not have an HDMI output I would suggest getting one that has that output. As for the cable box most require you to upgrade to digital cable in order to get one with an HDMI output. If you dont want to spend the money on new components and run what you have now the picture will stay mediocre at best. Good luck hope this helped
Here's what's going on with that unit. The DVP3340 records on the vcr side only, not the dvd side. To record on the VCR side, you would have to plug a red, white, and yellow plug from the red, white, and yellow OUT of your cable box to the red, white, and yellow VCR IN of the Philips. The manual, as far as I can see, only shows hookups for playback, not for recording. Good luck!
You are confused regarding how to connect your DVD player to your Samsung TV. There is no such thing as "5 composit hookups". Your DVD player most likely has right audio (commonly red), left audio (commonly white), and video (commonly yellow) outputs which should be connected to corresponding inputs on the rear of your TV.
