I have had the tractor for a couple years and love the tractor. I now have a major problem. When i engage the transmission it will not move forward or backwards. My wife threw away the owners manual and the local service center wants 100 just to pick it up to service it before we get it fixed. is there an easy way for me to check something to see if it is a easy fix. i do not know if there is a fluid level concern or if there is a common switch or relay that might go on these tractors, Again it is a dyt 4000 automatic craftsman traor you assistancector. Thank you f

maybe I can help, I have the same problem. It seems the transmission drive belt broke with mine. There are 2 belts. One is the drive belt for the blades, the other is for the transmission. I experienced the same problem today trying to mulch up fallen leaves. All of a sudden the wheels stopped turning. The blades were turning fine, the engine ran great but no power to the wheels. A mobile repair place wanted $50 for a service call and $48/hr repair + parts, approx/$150 to fix. NO way right now.
Called the local Sears store - transmission drive belt is $25. I'm going to jack this puppy up and see if I can change the belt myself this weekend.
Good luck, Bob Beebe, Gainesville,Fla.
