Question about Gmc Dodge Ford Reverse Back-up Sensor Alarm Kit

Open Question

Ford f350 reverse sensing system broke

I have a 2002 Ford f350 with the Reverse Sensing System (RSS), a couple months ago it stopped working. The switch on the dash used to enabld/disable the RSS remains in the "OFF" posistion continuously. All sensors in the bumper are in good condition, nothing unusual happened to trigger the malfunction. It literally worked one minute, then did'nt the next. Pressing the switch does nothing, it should auto enable when in reverse, and manually disabled with the dash switch if desired. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you dcsx3@msn.com

My backup sensors on my 2001 F350 4x4 also have stopped working. I checked the fuses but none were blown. The dash control also stays in the off position and will not activate the sensors and will not turn on.

i recently purchased a 06 f-250. The back up sensors quit working about 6 months after I purchased it. The off light does not even come on. The system acts as it has no power. I checked all fuses in the truck and they are good. I am probably going to take it to the dealer soon.

SOURCE: How do I get the code to disable security system

TOYOTA codes are virtually impossible to obtain for free from anywhere on the Internet as access is required to the original factory database.

A few of the older ones are hardwired codes and the only place I know  who may be able to help is here

www.ukbookshelf.co.uk

If not, or you are in a rush , it might be quicker to try your Main Toyota Dealer or take it into a Decode Service

SOURCE: Reverse lights and license plate light dont work

Try link below, may point you in right direction, but you'll have to scroll down & find what you need. Otherwise I'd start from bumper with test light & work my way back toward front harness, after all fuses, plugs etc been checked.

SOURCE: Reverse causes fuse for instrumental cluster to blow

Yes there is a reverse light back up switch located on the side of the transmission it will be the only 2 wires going to the tranny. There might be a short in the switch itself or the power wire to switch might have a bare spot where it might be grounding out on the vehicle somewhere.

SOURCE: Power windows and locks don't work properly

This is a common problem especially on the first gen 100series (1998-2000), the problem is in the master switch panel in the driver door, it is very rarely the relay, you could try and open the individual switches for a clean out and re-assemble, but its better to go to the breakers yard and get another unit, or a brand new one from the dealer ( expensive!!!).
The unit is designed to unlock the door automatically if you leave the key in the ignition and try and lock the door manually, the problem seems to stem from this function. however its mostly faulty panels units.
Newer cruisers dont have seem to have this issue iwth faulty switch panels.

No, the rear sensing system won't signal if you are in any gear except reverse. The wiring for the module is connected so that it turns on when you put the car in reverse. (This assumes the sensors haven't failed. If they are dirty, they can sometimes signal when an object isn't there.) Some newer cars have blind spot monitors that indicate an object approaching from behind and to the side; these don't indicate an object directly behind the car.

I hope this helps.

For my 2003 ford windstar I have a fuse that keeps blowing, any ideas what system is most likely causing it to blow multiple times?

its a bit hard to say but if you remove the plugs on the devices one by one you would find the culprit. anything with heat in the word i would start with as they are a main drain and so would the door actuator as they high voltage use. the rest are low voltage compared to them mentioned.

Have the RSS module checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . That should always be the first step . An it is
Reverse sensing system Parking Aid The parking aid system consists of the:
  • parking aid sensors
  • parking aid speaker
  • parking aid module
The parking aid system is activated when the parking aid module receives a network messages from the instrument cluster indicating that the vehicle is in reverse. The parking aid system sounds a warning to alert the driver of stationary objects near the rear bumper when REVERSE is selected. The parking aid system assists the driver in detecting certain objects while the vehicle moves in reverse at speeds less than 4.8 km/h (3 mph). The parking aid system may not detect angular or moving objects.

Reverse sensor not working on 2005 Ford Freestar. The "off" indicator stays illuminated on dash control even if you hit button to cut on/off. Have checked all related fuses and they are all OK....

You have a bad reverse sensor or cable. My freestar got "gently" hit from behind and it damaged one of the 5 sensors, the (RSS) Reverse sensing system controller wants to see all 5 sensors at start up of the vehicle, if it does not, then it shuts it's self off. Else the RSS controller is damaged.

Ford windstar reverse parking , replaced sensors

You have the infamous Reverse Sensing System (RSS) problem. You can search the internet and find various "fixes", but nothing approaching plug and play. Ford has an elaborate troubleshooting procedure using special test equipment.

Hi,is the electrical connector for your trailer intact? They often get damaged and when you select reverse can cause a short through the ignition system.

Reverse Sensing System doesn't sound

To test the speaker touch the wire terminal a 9 volt battery tester, make this by soldering wires to any 9 volt battery, then touch momentarly the battery leads to the speaker, the cone will move and make a slight pooping noise.
