Normal 0 Two things can cause static.
First, If you have your speakers turned up to high it will give you feedback causing distortion and static.
Second reason is, if you are using a laptop and have and have added an external microphone between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.
So hope this is of some help. Bud

Normal 0 After you install Skype and have it operational with your ID. Go to "TOOLS", click on "OPTIONS," Then go to "Audio Settings" and click on it. Make sure both the Microphone and Speaker's are correctly chosen. Then "make a free test call." Wait till the voice tells you to record. I want help to fix my headset whith microthone.

You better use analog multitester so you can hear a static sound coming from the headseat when you going to test.If happen you can't hear a static sound the common problem is the wire is breaks or cuts, then find where the cuts is and join it so it's works again.

Hope it may helps you;

Headset

There may be a few things that are wrong:

1. Your headset may be faulty.
2. You may need to configure your router.

First, make your IP address static.
If you do not know how to do this, then there is a guide here.

After that, you will need to go into your Router's Control Panel.
You can do this one of two ways:

1. Go to Start --> Run. Type in "cmd".
Once the command box opens, type in: "ipconfig /all"
Find the "Default Gateway" and paste it into your browser.
You will be prompted for a username and password, which you would have set when you installed the router.

2. Go to http://whatismyip.org and find out what your external IP address is. Copy the address, and paste it into your browser.

Once you have logged into your Router's control panel, look for "Port Forwarding" or "DMZ".
When you get onto the page, add a new record.
Use the static IP address you used earlier, and set the record to "DMZ".

[[DMZ open ALL ports on that IP address, allowing incomming and outgoing traffic to pass in and out of the computer]]

This should allow the headset to work, however if it doesn't, it may be faulty.
