What year is the house? Is this a GFCI protected breaker? It will have a yellow test button on the breaker if it is.

Our dryer doesn't dry clothes like it should, sometimes takes a long long time and other times quick and the clothes feel really hot, model # is DLE 2532W

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Power from the house

Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating Element

Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it. The proper ohm reading can be found in the service manual or sometimes on the tech sheet located somewhere on your dryer (9- 13 ohms is a common reading). Electric heating elements aren't repairable. The heating element is easy to replace. Check our videos for other types of dryer heating elements.

Thermal fuse / Thermal Cut Out / Thermistor

On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel or behind the front cover. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing They are also round and made of metal and plastic. The thermistor is located on the blower housing usually. If any of the fuses do not have continuity replace it. Check for continuity if none replace, But before replacing check for obstructions. The fuses are very inexpensive and easy to replace.

Wiring

A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. Check all connections, make sure they are tight. Loose connections can lead to a fire. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

BREAKER TRIP AFTER 8 MINS .WORKED ONLY ON PERMANENT PRESS FOR A YR NORMAL ..WOULD TRIP BREAKER ON LOW AND HEAVY SETTING AFTER 5 MINS CYCLE.

This problem might be in your house electrical system rather than the dryer but it will take some troubleshooting to figure it out.
1. First make sure that you are connected to a 30 amp circuit breaker. If not then that is the problem!
2. Use a clamp on amp meter to see what the dryer is drawing from your electrical panel before it trips. If it is below the rating of the 30 amp circuit breaker when it trips, then your circuit breaker is defective.
3. If the dryer is drawing more than 30 amps it is in your machine and you will need to troubshoot that. Since you stated the times - is it always the same and does not vary? Then you have to figure out what you dryer is doing at the 8 minute mark and each machine is a little different. Soem machines go into a tumble air only mode for the first few minutes before kicking on the heating elecment. If yours is that was then it is the heating element, thermostat or something to do with the heating circuit.

My Maytag Bravo Steam Dryer runs for about 5 minutes and gets hot and then kicks the breaker in the breaker box. HELP!!

Hello there:
It blows fuses or trips the circuit breaker Electric dryers use 220 volts or two power lines of 110 volts each. Some components in the dryer need only 110 volts; the heating element requires 220 volts. So it's possible for one part of the dryer to be fine and another part to have a short circuit. Short circuits can be caused by the heating element, the main power cord, or any other part of the internal wiring. To decide where the problem lies, unplug the dryer, then:It could be also wired backwardes so make sure to have this checked'

If the circuit breakers or fuses remain on and/or intact when the dryer is unplugged, it's likely the problem is with the dryer. Contact a qualified appliance repair technician. If the circuit breaker trips or the fuse blows when the dryer is unplugged, it's likely the problem is with the house wiring, fuse box, or circuit box.

The hottub keeps kicking the circuit breaker off.

Either the breaker is bad or you have an electrical problem. Unless you know how to work with electrical problems call for service. If you unplug the hot tub and plug a lamp or hair dryer into the outlet does the breaker trip? If yes, call an electrician. If the outlet is fine call for service on the hot tub.

Typically, a standard electric dryer is 30A 240V unless it is natural gas. If the wire is #10awg then you can put a 30A circuit breaker on it. If the wire is #12awg then you DO NOT want to put a larger circuit breaker on it or it over heat the wiring in the wall. If it was a short in the wiring the circuit breaker would trip immediately even with out the dryer plugged in. If it was a grounding problem the circuit breaker would not trip at all, it would just electrify the dryer chasis. It sounds like it is an over current problem, drawing more than 20 amps through the circuit breaker, or like the dryer has an internal problem that is causing the circuit breaker to trip.
