The machinge keeps asking to insert brewing unit but it seems to

Have been inserted correctly - the infuser looks like it is at an angle. We had to turn it upside down today because beans were put in the grounds part of the machine... it has been cleaned out and everything should work - any ideas?

I have the same problem with mine. Replaced infuser and it's still broken. Only option left is to pay a ton of $ to ship it to NY, then see how much it will cost to fix. I'm completely unimpressed with their service. Good luck!

I have the same problem. I called Delonghi and was told to try descaling the machine, if not try to replace the infuser $72. Descaling did not fix my problem. I wanted to see if there were any other ideas or if all it is is the infuser.

The infuser does go in at a slight angle "11:45" ish. Be sure the tabs on the sides of the infuser "pop" back out when it's in place. Try unplugging the machine if all else fails and it will do a self diagnostic. You could also call Delonghi tech support.

Insert brewing unit message comes up after pressing start

The unit may not be fully inserted. Remove it and see if the housing behind it is loose. It is held in by two screws. Tighten these with an Allen key and hopefully the unit will be properly seated when you insert it.

When i turn on my delonghi magnifica pronto on its says insert brewing unit but its already in plus it makes a really loud noise when i turn it on

Sounds like the brewing unit, or infuser, has not been properly seated into its holder. Are you sure that the two red retainer fittings are in their snapped out positions? See page 16 of your owner's manual.
If the infuser has not been properly seated it could cause a loud noise when the servo drive tries to raise the unit into its brewing position.

When the machine is switched on it makes a bang and switches off

If you cannot remove the brew unit then it is in a working position due to the machine being turned off at the wall. Don't try to force it! It needs to be moved to park position before it comes out.

Put it all back together, fill the tank and unplug the machine. Wait a moment then plug it back in. You should hear the transmission moving the brew unit into park as the display reads "Self-Diagnosis". It will then turn off.

Open the door, remove the tray and try the brew unit again.

If you did not hear the transmission move it could be jammed. If the brew unit still does not come out the interlock could be broken.

Transmission
If the transmission is getting stuck there may be obstructions, the lead screw may be worn or the limit switches could be faulty. If cleaning and grease on the screw/bearings don't help then replacement is a big pricy job only for confident hands. Approach with caution.

Brew Unit
The transmission can wear out prematurely and get stuck due to the brew unit becoming stiff. The piston in the brew unit should move smoothly and fairly easily. Keep the brew unit in good service by occasionally removing the piston to clean and re-grease the two big red o-rings using a food-safe grease. To pop the piston out the top, gently remove the plastic u-clip from the base of the shaft underneath, paying attention to which way up it goes for reassembly.

Brew unit is stuck

Open the door. Remove the dredge drawer, drip tray. On the left side of the brewing unit, and towards the back of the brew group, there is a single screw. Remove the screw. Grab the handle and pull carefully, but firmly with a quick ****. The brew group should come out. There is a piece that remains in the machine. Slide that piece down and to the right and it will come off. Insert the piece into the hole on the backside of the brew group with the clip up. Tighten the screw and move brew group back into position.
To return the brew group to the centered position, you first need to drop the funnel. To do this, look on the opposite side of the brew group from the handle. At the top you will see an object that looks like a sharks fin. If you follow this piece down you will see 2 horizontal bars on the brew group body. Push your finger between these 2 bars and the funnel will drop. Now you can push the puck slide on the left side down and to the center. (You can insert your key into the hole in the front and twist the key to return the brew unit to the center. Line up the 2 diamonds and it centered) If you look down through the funnel you should see a piston. This should be centered in the funnel. If not, locate the slide on the left side of the brew unit,(it should be hanging down, a flat rectangular piece attached to the cylinder) and push the slide to the right until it does. Push the press button and you are now ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine. First you must insert the drip tray and dredge drawer, close the door and turn on the machine without having the brew group in. Turn the machine on. You will hear the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open the door and remove the tray, now insert the brew group and replace the tray, and test.

Insert Brew Unit

hi
If the brew unit (the dark gray thing inside that has "push" on it) is not locked in, you get this message.
Push in the center of the brew unit towards the back and see if you hear a click? If you don't, remove the brew unit and look in the back. Behind the brew unit there is a recess. Inside the recess is a verticle slot. There should be an arm the moves from top right to bottom left. If you don't see this arm, thats your problem. It will have to be serviced to replace the arm. Its caused by inserting the brew unit with the funnel down (not locked up). Remember to push the "Push" lever before inserting your brew unit.

The brew unit is stuck and impossible to remove now, and something on the left seems to have moved out of place and prevents the container that holds spent coffee to slide in correctly.

Open the door. On the left side and towards the back of the brew group, there is a single small Phillips screw. Remove the screw. Squeeze the handle and pull carefully, but firmly with a quick snap. The brew group should come out with the dredge drawer and drip tray. There is a piece that remains in the machine. Slide the piece down and to the right and it will come off. Insert the piece into the hole on the backside of the brew group with the clip up. Tighten the screw and move brew group back into position. If your brew group did not come out please call your service center.

This should be centered in the funnel. If not just push the slide to the right until it does. Squeeze the lever like you are removing the brew unit until it clicks and you are now ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine. First you must insert the drip tray and dredge drawer, then close the door and turn on the machine without having the brew group in. You will hear the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open the door and insert the brew group. Done

DeLonghi Magnifica always asks "Insert Infuser Assembly"

on my machine, the two screws that attach the infuser receptacle to the insides of the machine came loose. You can see those two stainless hex socket screws when you remove the infuser by grabbing its two red tabs and pulling it out. Just use a hex shaft
screwdriver (size 3mm or thereabout) to tighten them.
