  • Thomas F. Schneider May 11, 2010

Have you tried defrosting the ice maker? If water is going to it under preasure and it is(the water path) not clogged the the control valve is clogged or defective.

Water dispenser quit Tuesday night. Did some trouble shooting I found on line, including leaving the light on in the dispenser well, but no change. The ice maker is still producing ice.

Ice maker works but the door controls don't come on. so to get ice you have to get it out of freezer

Hi my name is mark, do you have a water filter on this unit. shut off water to ice maker. remove water line from ice maker, hold water line in a bucket slowly turn on water. if you get water. then the fill solinoid has failed. if you do not get water trace water line back to water shut off. if it is the solinoid valve. you will need model and serial number to order part

Ice maker kitchen aid kuic18nnts won't pump water over chill plate. Replaced circulating pump still no water.

Hi,

Does the circulating pump- pump water? Remove the hose that goes to the spreader bar and run the unit again, if it moves water as a new pump should check for blockages in that hose and spreader tube. Get back to me if this doesn't work please. Personal email address kidlmo@gmail.com...

New undercounter kitchen aid ice won't work with ro

Hi,

If I am not mistaken, you need to have at least 20 psi possible 35 psi for this unit to work. The new unit have smart fill valves an require min pressure to work correctly, Read the uses and care for min water supply need to operate this unit correctly. There is a way to make this work, increase pressure with a pump from the RO company. Good Luck

My stand alone kitchen aid icemaker is filling up with water. It is making ice but it keeps filling up with water as well. I had a plumber come out last week because the ice maker was leaking. He fixed...

The drains on items like this get a sludgy residue built up in the drains. Make sure its clear. Empty the bin and you should see the drain port run a small amount of hot water in it. Not a lot as it could leak from the drain tray if it has one. If the drain is clear then it could be a nice maker issue where it's dumping too much water in the tray to harvest. Excess would spill over.

Kitchen aid ice maker full of water

Sounds to me like a water level sensor is not working causing water to overflow and flood the ice storage compartment. Try the diagnostics provided in the video above. Here is a link to a service manual=> HERE I am here should you have questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

Ice maker stopped making ice. There is a detectable abount of water in the water reservoir where the ice is formed but no ice. For a few days leading up, I could hear a faint bark or intermittent...

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Kitchen aid under counter ice maker

S, the interior light is timed. If you leave the door open for more than 5 minutes, it'll shut off automatically. Close the light switch manually (at the top up there) and hold for 5 seconds. After you release it, you may see a red LED where the clean light is... disregard for now.

Now replace all of the hoses you removed for cleaning. These can be cleaned using the "cleaning method" posted and labeled on the inside of you IM door.

Now go get some of this, or something similar and follow the cleaning instructions.

As an aside here... I ran a service call for a guy who did exactly what you did, except that he chose to go to Home Depot and get all new tubing. (!!!!) Well, the tubing didn't fit and even if it di it was routed improperly. Then he called me to come fix it.

Close to $200 later everything was back to normal. All he had to do in the first place was to maintain his IM like it was a swimming pool. Get the right chemicals and use them as instructed on the label.

Please don't misunderstand. I'm not scolding or anything like that... it's just that sometimes the simplest approach is the best approach. Your high dollar IM is a complicated and computer controlled piece of equipment, when you start pulling the guts out, the "brain" has a difficult time interpreting what your doing, that's all.

Let us know how it goes. If there are any additional symptoms, please let us know immediately.
