Question about Samsung VP-DC161 DVD Camcorder

Finalizing dvd Recently I've bought my samsung sc-dx103 camcorder and a pack of DVD-R non DL. After the process of finalizing it stills displays that the cd is full. Did it finalize?? It will not play on my PhilipsDVP 5960 dvd player nor on my Extensa 5620 laptop? Is the CD corrupted? I just purchased the SC-DX103 and was able to finalize the first two disks, but unable to finalize the next two. I tried resetting the default settings and that did not help. It goes through the process and at the very end I get a "disk error" message, and the disk is not finalized. Added to that problem, I purchased at Best Buy and when I went on the Samsung website to register the camcorder, eventhough I have triple checked and had someone else double check, I can't register as it says I must enter a valid Serial Number. Can someone help.

    I don't think the disk is the problem. The first two that finalized were from the same pack of 3 that I purchased at the time I purchased the camcorder. I then purchased another pack of a different national brand, and tried that disk with the same problem.
    I honestly don't believe it is a bad disk problem.

Its not at all the problem of disk as this happens if the software allready loaded on the device is corrupted or the device is havinf faulty lens so its not been able to read the disk and for that the lens needs cleaning or replace ment.

Welcome to Fixya! It is not a Disc Problem. Do you have the Software disk that came with the Camcorder? If so, Reinstall the Software and let me know where we stand on this Issue.

Sir,

The Camera displays disc access error message when DVD disks are not closed or non-finalised / unfinalised disc and won't play.
Disk Error, Disc Error or Format Error message when you turned on the camera, or the mini DVD disc finalization was accidently interrupted. Also format error, disc error unreadable disk.

Another problem occurs after dropping the camera or when you have opened the DVD door part way through recording and removed the disk. The problems with these mini DVD discs typically occur with the failure during the disc finalising process and results in unplayable video. The typical 'Disc Error" or messages are the first sign of trouble. The mini DVD disk does not finalise properly

If your serial number is not registered at website sound like it a duplicate or defective product (also most chinese products has the same problem) check the retailer where u bought for replacement.

Hi hgetlan,

The fact that you were able to finalize the first two disks, but not the next two, leads me to suspect that you may be feeding it discs that are perhaps faulty. In my day job, we occasionally use CD & DVD duplicators and the problems we have with duplication failures/errors often seem to trace back to certain brands of CD or DVD media (usually off-brands).

If all discs were of the same brand/batch, I'd recommend trying another brand. If the two that worked were of the same brand, and the two that failed were different, that also supports this hypothesis - try using the brand that worked.

As for the registration/serial number situation, the fact that both you and someone else have verified this multiple times indicates some kind of problem at the Samsung site - - you may need to contact a live human, either by phone or email (or maybe they do chat??). Disc error


Ive bought some tdk mini discs dvd -r for my samsung camcorder and some of them work fine but I also keep getting disc errors on a lot of them when Iput them in?

DVD issue


The delete option is for a DVD-RW and will not be highlighted when there is a DVD-R. And once a DVD has been finalized you cannot un-finalize. If it is a DVD-R the disc can not be changed after being finalized. If it is a DVD-RW you can format the disc after it has been finalized. This process will erase everything on the disc but it can be used again.

Disk wont finalize samsung sc-dx103


Samsung support just told me that there has to be some space left on the disc to finalize it. In other words if you fill the disc with too much video, the disc won't be able to write the necassary info on the disc to finalize it. Support told me you needed 10MB to finalize. He also told me to leave 7- 10 minutes of free space which is ridiculous because the disc only records 20 minutes. I have complained to Samsung about this ommission from the manual and that the camcorder should know to leave enough space to finalize the disc.>

Cannot copy disc from dx103 to pc to make dvd copies


Hi there and welcome FixYa.

Your going to need 2 things.
1) A DVD player on your pc.
2) Good DVD burning software.
And your DVD is going to have to be finalized in the camcorder before you can play it in a DVD player or a computer.

I use MYDVD from Roxio. But there are a few out there, and it just depends on the individual user as to which one you prefer.

With MYDVD, it's pretty easy, you just start the program, and follow your prompts.

english/ Samsung VP-DC161WBi. Has included, has written down video, all in was normal. But having rolled the camera once again the screen has not joined. After inclusion the screen dark with a light horizontal strip in the middle, the disk is not untwisted, the chamber does not react to buttons. Prompt, how it is possible to solve this problem in what it, can business in insertions or a power unit? The guarantee at the chamber left. Но включив еще раз камеру экран не включился. После включения экран темный с светлой горизонтальной полоской посередине, диск не раскручивается, камера на кнопки не реагирует. Подскажите, как можно решить эту проблему, в чем она, может дело в прошивки или блоке питания? Гарантия у камеры вышла. Если дело в прошивки посоветуйте пожалуйста, где можно ее скачать. Спасибо!!!
