Music from burnt cds...won't go to assigned folder

I have created folders and stacked my music in each according folder on my computer but when i turn on my sansa e250 it deletes the assigned folders and throws all the burnt music into an "unknown artist" folder. i would like to be able to dictate where my songs are stored on my mp3 player and seperate them by artist but it's just not letting me. it's ridiculous and frustrating. what can i do?

I think i can help... but i need to know how you are getting your music onto your device. Are you using a program such as Windows Media Player or are you going into 'My Computer' and copying the music files into the device's drive?

Thats the way the software works. I'd suggest using an option like within winamp - where it looks for media tags and fills in all the appropriate information as to artist and genre for you. Winamp will do this with songs that have absolutely no information in them whatsoever (like burns) but it cant with homemade files like your buddy's garage band. The only way to seperate it besides folders is within playlists.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I deleted the music folder and nt able to play the songs in mp3

When I had the same accident this is what worked for me. I disconnected my sandisk player from my computer. After waiting until the sandisk software completed it's termination programming, I re-connected it to the computer.

Because I use Microsoft Windows XP, a window pops up asking if I want to open the device in Windows Explorer. Answering "yes" and then selecting the "Folders" from the tabs at the top of the window will display the sandisk along the left column as "Sansa e250". By double clicking on the folder labeled "PPI NAND" a drop down list of subdirectory folders should be displayed. If the folder "MUSIC" is not there, you will need to create a new folder and label it "MUSIC".

Here is how to create a new folder.
With the folder "PPI NAND" highlighted, move the cursor up to the upper right hand corner of the "Windows Explorer" window and select the tab "File". From the drop down menu select " New Folder ". This should cause a folder to appear in the window to the right of the "Sansa e250" window. The new folder should be highlighted and labeled "New Folder". Select the "New Folder" and rename it "MUSIC". When renamed, select the PPI NAND folder and the new folder "Music" should be listed as one of the folder in the subdirectory. If so, you can select it to see if the Music folder contains and music files. If not, you will need to copy or drag your files into the new "MUSIC' folder.

Once I did all of this and disconnected my sandisk player, the player and let the software complete the programming work before shutting it off, it worked fine. My original problem was caused by shutting my sandisk player off after disconnecting it from the computer before the sandisk software completed its work.

Hope this helps.

you can fix the problem by having the original sansa files when you format it it deletes everything
get a friends sansa files or do this
and just because it would be a pain looking for the original files i uploaded here for people who deleted them put these files into a folder named

REFS--no files

and put them in into 1 folder named SYSTEM--make it hidden then put it on sansa

then create a music folder make it hidden

then create photo folder with thumbnail and my album folder make my album hidden

then create pictures folder make it hidden

then create playlists folder make it hidden put this file in it
http://www.divshare.com/download/4003139-94b

make a record folder with 2 folders named radio and voice

Deleting music off of my sansa E250r!!HLP ME

If you originally used rhapsody (or began in Rhapsody mode) , you have to use rhapsody to remove the songs. If that doesn't work, you can manually open the music folder by enabling "hidden folders" under "tools" -> "folder options..." -> click the "view" tab -> scroll and check "show hidden files and folders". Then go to My Computer -> Sansa e250 -> "system" -> "music" -> then delete the songs. I don't know the effects of using this method, so use it at your own risk.

Btw, Real Player should do fine as well.

You can manually delete the music thru My Computer. Just click on the device name, and open the Music folder. If you dont have a Music folder, you need to enable hidden files and folders on your computer. Best of Luck.

Deleting songs

Chances are that you are using windows xp. open up your sansa folder to where it says pictuer, movies, ect. look at the picture to see what to do. In your player folder click tools --> folder options --> View. Under hidden files and folders click 'show hidden files and folders, click ok. The music folder would now show up where the videos and pictures are. Simply open the music folder and delete the ones you do not want. By default the songs are sorted by artist --> album --> song.

Deleting files from Sansa e250

The only way I know to delete music files or voice or FM recordings, is straight from the User's manual on the CD: 1. Set the e250 to MSC mode. 2. Plug it in to your computer with the USB connector. 3. Open the Sansa e250 drive in My Computer and browse to the MUSIC folder (or RECORD folder)and delete the files there. (That's where you also add music files, by dragging from other explorer windows.) To delete (or add) photo and video files, you have to use the Media Converter, which you install from the disk that came with the e250.
