I erased my DVDRAM GSA-4084N software by accident. What can I do?

I have a dv5215us Hp Pavilion Notebook. I went into the registry and deleted some files to try and get my DVDRAM to work properly - it had an error code 39. Now I no longer have a DVD/CD drive showing up on my computer. What can i do?

Honestly, you meesed up your Registry so you need to restore them back.
First step:
Reboot your laptop
and as soon as it starts press F8 (repeatedly) untill you are taken to DOS mode
once you reach the DOS mode
choose Last Known Good Configuration Option and hit enter
now check you drive that should be there
if still remains the bug
2nd step:
Insert your Recovery disk (don't worry about not being displayed drive) in DVD/cd drive
Click on start>Run then type in "scf /scannnow" without quotes (and there is space between scf and /).
then hit enter
it should recover your all settings back.
if this does not help then
Last option:
Go to the HP website and download(free of cost) driver for you Laptop and Install back in.
now you are good to go.
by the way, i just would like you to inform that we need to create registry back up before we start playing with it because if anything happens then we can get all registry back in seconds.

Thank you.

HP dv6636nr DVD/CD not working

This is a common problem try this: Windows XP
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  4. In the right pane, click UpperFilters.

Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only. If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to step 7.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
  6. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
  7. In the right pane, click LowerFilters.

Note If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, unfortunately this content cannot help you any further. Go to the "Next Steps" section for information about how you can find more solutions or more help on the Microsoft Web site.
  8. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
  9. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
  10. Exit Registry Editor.
  11. Restart the computer.

try this ..

you must start regedit ( start -> run [See screenshots at the bottom] Type here: regedit )

search the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/
search for "4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318"
if you doesn't find anything, search only for a part of the string.

now search the propertys UpperFilter an LowersFilter and kill the value. If only one prop. is there, you must kill only the one value

on my laptop it works!!

ok you can do two things to fix it

first of all go to start
go to run
type regedit and hit ok
now in the registry go to this path

and remove both upper and lower filters from the right pane

now close the registry editor.

reboot the computer and see if that fixed it or not

if not the download the drivers from this website.

just select the operating system that u have and then download it and reinstall the driver and then reboot the computer

that should be it

if still not working then i guess its a hardware issue
