Question about Panasonic CQ-C300U Car CD/ MP3 Player

1 Answer

Won't read mp3 and wma cds

Created CD with Windows Vista with only MP3s on the root directory of new Memorex 700MB CD-R and verified by computer.
The display reads "reading" then "03 0'00" for 4mins then "E-2" then "CD eject".
It plays commercial CDs fine but not if one has been disc copied to a Memorex disc by Vista.

The discs were not "finalized" or "closed" - place the cd's back on your computer cd-rom drive and search the help file of your CD burning software and search for "closing disc" or "finalizing disc." Some programs will allow you to close or finalize after you have already burned them, but others (Sony SoundForge is one exmaple) will not allow it - you may have to re-burn the discs and select the option that says "close disc after finishing" (this option is usually left unchecked by default, because closing or finalizing a disc prevents you from adding any new information to the disc).

How do I download a lecture recorded on my MP3 VIDEO PLAYER to a cd for the car. Everytime I download a lecture, the cd will play on the compuyer but when i try to play it in the car it will not play.

Has your car radio played burned audio discs before?

If so, you may have to refer to the disc types that have worked before (ex: TDK 80min/700mb works but Memorex 80min/700mb will not).

And if worse comes to worse it could also be your cd burning software. I personally use PowerISO to make audio cds (Had issues with the installed Windows7 burning software myself).

Tip

Making a data CD for your car and house using WINDOWS

Making a data disk is easy, and it stores many more songs than a traditional mastered CD yet it can be done on almost any blank CD it doesnt need to be any special kind.

Step 1: Get your blank CD. (They usually are about 700MB of space or 180mins)

Step 2: Insert CD into disk drive

Step 3: A screen will pop up, asking how you want to use the CD...

Step 4: Choose "Use Windows to create my cd"

Step 5: A folder will come up which you can drag your songs into

Step 6: Drag all your songs until its full (usually like 90 songs)

Step 7: Choose creat disk... and your done :)

NOTE: This type of CD will ONLY work in NEWER model cars that play MP3s or WMA. But it will work on all computers... and many new cars too.

SwiMP3 (128 MB) MP3 Player: I have the original first version of the Swimp3 pl...

This could actually be an easy fix. If you have any files on the player that are not WMA or MP3 files, or that you've stored your music in folders - either way it could simply stop the drive from playing.

Incompatible Music Files: If you have loaded a music file that is not compatible, it simply won't play. The SwiMP3 player works with mp3 or wma files, but not aac (like from iTunes).

Solution: Remove the incompatible files. Convert your other music files to mp3 or wma, and if you are importing your songs direct from itunes, you'll need to convert them to mp3s first.

Incompatible NON-Music Files: An MP3 player is similar to a Thumb Drive or Flash Drive because it can hold any kind of file that will fit in the drive's capacity. However, if you have loaded an incompatible file - including JPEGs, Cover Art, Word Docs, anything that is not an MP3 or WMA file, the player simply can't translate it into music.

Solution: Remove the incompatible files, leaving only your mp3 or wma files in your root directory.

Folders: The mp3 player is not able to open folders and play music files stored inside, to the Swimp3 player the folder is simply an un-playable file.

Solution: Open the folders, move or copy the music files into the root directory (remember, mp3 or wma - not aac), then delete the folders.

I hope you find this helpful.

When i copy cds they will only play in my computer not on my cd players?

have you check the file format? it might be .wma or acc, it will surely not play in cd players , because cd players only read Mp3s, .avi, and .cda extensions.

Check first the file format ^_^

The CD's I make no longer play in my car and other regular CD players. They are getting embedded in a folder and then burning. I did make sure they are ripping to mp3, not wma. Is there a setting I need to...

Are you writing a "data" CD, with many MP3 files,
or are you using Windows Media Player to burn a "music" CD?
Windows Media Player will convert the MP3 files back to WAV files.

The CD-reader in your car cannot read MP3 files -- it can only read WAV files -- commercial CDs are written as WAV files.

When you put the CD into your computer, how many megabytes of the disk are "used", and how many "tracks" are there on the CD?
