On many modern car radios you must input the code after the battery in the vehicle has been replaced. Look in your glove compartment for a small card that has the code printed on it, and instructions for reactivating your radio.

I have to 1999 cougar 4 cylinder 5 speed with all fuses out of the fuse box the car still has power in the dash however the car will not start with key in ignition but will start manually under the ho

If you have a multimeter (don't spend > $20 US) you need to check whether the ignition switch is sending voltage to the starter relay or starter.
Also, if you have an automatic tranny, there may be a switch to prevent starting in gear that has failed.
If a manual, it may have a safety switch related to the clutch position.

Vw rcd 500 power is showing

if im not mistaken they run off the cars on board computer to display (CLOCK & TEMP) on the center console?
so if im right, have you check the fuse in the fuse box down beside your feet under the steering column. trust me don't check the radio fuse.....check them ALL! as it runs off the interior light fuse as well. start with the 20A ones.
if im wrong, then you've popped the fuse on the back or inside the head unit...

Vauxhall astra radio keeps switching on and off on its own

I had this problem for the last 2 weeks, didn't think much of it, but recently the car radio just turned on and off by itself, it decided to do so whilst the car was switched off and it drained my battery. After doing some tests with the Amp meter and removing the fuses for the radio and infotainment system the amps going through the batter went from about 0.7 to 0.001 (far more accpetable) - so the radio was draining the battery and randomly turning itself on/changing stations and the internal display system had stopped working.

after putting the fuses back in and re-testing the radio worked fine (almost like it had a full reset - no random turning on and off OR changing of radio stations)

the fuse box for my astra was next to the battery under the bonnet (see your car manual - I had lost mine so googled for it)

http://pdfcast.org/pdf/2006-vauxhall-astra-owners-manual-operation-safety-and-maintenance

PAGE (267 or 265)

but it seems yanking the fuses for the radio (FUSE number 35 and 36) seemed to fix it (been a few days and no flat battery) -

It maybe an intermitent fault, in which case i'll have it looked into, but as garages charge an arm and a leg i'd give this solution a go and if your battery is good all you need to do is remove the fuses and put them back after say a minute or so)

Audio 99 cougar?

you may have blown a fuse, check the radio fuse or cigarette lighter fuse under the dash and see if there are any bad ones, you should have a diagram of what fuse is which on the fuse box cover. check the cigarette lighter and see if its out too, they might not share the same fuse but a lot of times they do. you might have to take each one out one at a time to see if they are bad, if one is bad there will be a little break in the metal in the middle on the fuse. hope this helps!

The Sound is Gone.

Hi....
The circuits that routes all the audio signals thru the amp has either died OR the power supply that runs that circuit has died.
Estimate to fix : $75-125
