Worcester highflow 400 central heating/hot water problem

The central heating light flashes continually and although the hot water and central heating light go on nothing happens. If I reset the central heating temperature control by switching off and then positioning I get hot water for 4 mins before it reverts back to flashing. What's the problem? How can it be fixed? I've had for about 4 years and no problems until now.

HI Steve thanks for that suggestion. I'm not brave enough to take the facia panel off but I'm sure you're correct there's a problem with the pump. I've just paid £400 + to get an engineer out tomorrow with a service plan. I wish I was more technical but I'm freezing here and had to something quickly. Many thanks for the suggestion once again.

If you know what the circulator pump is, see if it is pumping. First turn the power switch on the side of the unit off. turn the thermostat on. then turn the power switch back on. usually the coupling assembly (2 metal pieces connected together with springs) is visible if the pump is red. if the pump is green and named gruenfos, put the metal tip of a screwdriver against it and the handle to your ear, this will act like a stethescope and determine if you can hear it. Steve.

Sounds like a control panel.Detatch the block connector that serves the gas valve, see if you have power on the bare pins.both left and right pins should measure mains voltage. If you have no power at the pins its the pcb control board.Replace the board.

SOURCE: central heating keeps going off for no reason.have

It sounds the furnace is going into lock out, you have a safety fault problem of some kind.
It could a ignitor, flame sensor, limit or roll out switch, etc.
You really need to have a service technician check it out.

Pilot light ok when release finger pilot goes out

Your thermo couple is bad. Thats the copper tube that goes from the gas valve to the pilot. It senses thats the pilot is lit. Thats not working thats why it goes out. You can get a new one at lowes or home depot for about ten bucks its pretty easy to change just dont kink it when you put it in. It will just plug in at the pilot and screw in at at gas valve.

The by pass pipe may be limed up. This apparently causes a reduced flow which will stop the heating side of the thing working. Call out Worcester Bosch engineer. It costs £210 including VAT and most parts and they almost guarantee to get it working.

A trickle of hot water from taps, central heating ok

it sounds like your shut off valve might be bad even though it turns on and off by turing it doesn't mean that the washer is not stuck to the seat and not opening, try replacing the valve
