HEYYY everyone.. ok well I called T-mobile and I told the guy what kind of phone it was... the i9, and he transferred me to a tier 3 representative. This guy knew exactly my problem, sent me all the setting via SMS text, all i had do do was to push save settings. He also told me that that department was the only ones who could/ would know how to deal with phones like the i9. he also set it up so the phoen has free t-zones. Good luckers yall!

I had the same exact problem, was actually searching for setup instructions on eBay. Forget that noise. I found very clear and simple step-by-step instructions. I sympathize with anyone else having this problem, because I know how frustrating it can be. So anyway, here are the instructions:

Data Account Setup:
From the Main Menu select > Services > Data Account > GPRS
Scroll to an empty account (IE: Account Cect i9 gprs settings - mms problems - icon_cool.gif and select Edit
Set Account Name to T-Mobile Internet
Set APN to internet2.voicestream.com
Leave Username and Password blank
Press Done
Select Yes to Save
WAP Profile Setup:
From the Main Menu select > Services > WAP > Settings
Select Edit Profile
Scroll to an empty profile (IE: Profile icon_cool.gif and select Edit Profile
Set Profile Name to T-Mobile Internet
Set Homepage to http://www.t-mobile.com
Select Data Account > GPRS > T-Mobile Internet
Set Connection Type to HTTP
Leave Proxy blank
Leave Port blank
Leave Username and Password blank
Press Done
When Prompted to Save select Yes
Scroll to T-Mobile Internet and select Activate Profile
To Access the Browser:
From the Main Menu select > Services > WAP
Select Homepage to bring up the homepage
Select Enter Address to browse other pages
To setup Picture Message (MMS)
Create Data Account
Select Menu
Select Services
Select Data Account
Select GPRS
Choose an empty profile
Account Name enter T-Mobile WAP
Press Options
Press Done
APN enter wap.voicestream.com
Press Options

Proxy Address enter 216.155.165.050
Port enter 8080
User Name
Password
Press Done
Activate the profile

Forgot to mention that this setup works with T-Mobile exclusively.

  • Anonymous Jan 22, 2009

Well the data packet just provides you with text and media message abilities, so that's between you and your provider. Unfortunately, I didn't come up with these instructions, I found them on another site so I don't have any further help. I would suggest calling your provider, as that seems to work for a lot of i9 users.

Follow this link and send yourself the settings for the Nokia 2610. If you see something pop up and then go away, press the power button really quickly just once to get it back up.

Tap install, then keep tapping install until you get back to the main screen.

Tier 3 data support, T-mobile USA

you can try that link. If that doesn't work here is the backdoor.

    Log in to t-mobile.com
    Go to support.
    Go to services and data
    Go to device setup tools
Go to Begin to use the T-mobile wireless configurator

Call your tmobile rep. dial 611 on the phone with your tmobile sim card in it. they will send data packets with the setup info right to your phone. or if you use the my.t-mobile.com site, you can do it yourself on there. however, i find it much easier to just deal with a live human rep. hope this helps.

Ive recently bought a i9 touch phone fron china. (a clone of the iphone) i live in Australia and am with the vodafone network. can any one help me out with mms/gprs/wap settings....

Let www.sciphonesettings.co.uk take the pain out of configuring your Sciphone/CECT handset to enable GPRS, WAP, MMS and Webmail. You could be surfing the web and sending/receiving multimedia messages within 24 hour.
They supply setting to Austrailia too.

Need wap/mms settings for optus (aus) for cect i9 phone

If you have a I9 you must go to this site. very helpful every question you have has been asked at this site. Regestration is free.
http://www.i9forum.co.uk/

Most setups are listed directly on this site. I took this qute from someone asking the same question.
I didnt see the thread they were ytalking bout, but they are suggesting stting it up like the Nokia 2610. I would recommend posting this question again on the above site. Below is what I copied from there.

Hi I'm in Sydney and use Optus mms and wap with no problems. If you look in this thread under the topic Easy configure MMS. Follow the instructions to the Nokia site for the 2610 and you should get a text back to set up MMS and the internet. Good luck It worked fine for me.

Cant receive pictures or send

No, but you will need a working GPRS connection to receive MMS messages. This is the same like you need for internet services. Check if GPRS is available. If you need settings for it, find them here.

It seems your phone does not have the required internet settings. Please call up the customer service of your service provider and ask for the settings that is required to go online and send/recieve MMS.
