Question about Gateway EV 910 19" CRT Monitor

2 Answers

I have a new Dell Studio 540 computer and I'd like to hook it up to my Gateway EV910 monitor. I connected everything correctly. The monitor has power, turns on to the monitor self test screen where it tells me everything is okay with the monitor and then the monitor goes to power save mode. I think that I need to put a Gateway driver on the Dell in order to get it to recognize and communicate with my monitor. How do I do that? Where do I get the driver? Help!

It should recognize it immediately, and the only problem that i can think of would be your graphics card not supporting it.
Here is the driver for it: http://support.gateway.com/s/MONITOR/7001267/z01267nv.shtml

You dont need to install a driver for the monitor. The power save mode message appears when the monitor is not able to get a signal from the computer. Make sure the the vga/blue cable is securely plugged to the back of the pc.

note: Inspect the back of your studio. You may have two blue ports where you can connect the monitor, if you do, connect the monitor to the one at the bottom half of the computer.

Go back to Dell monitor. Remove any video drivers from hp.change video resolution both in windows and in video card settings to standard 1024 x 768 (yes it will look horrible) then hook up hp monitor. Don't install drivers if prompted get them from hp website then adjust resolution through video card settings after drivers installed which probably require restart.

I bought a Gateway FPD1830 monator from a friend. What does it need other than a power cord to hook to a dell computer?

VGA or DVI cable, this cable has approx 1" x 1/2 inch blue or white ends and should connect both to the monitor and to the computer to transmit the video signal between the two.

Tom, try connecting a KNOWN GOOD monitor to your PC. If it works fine for 2 hrs and will recover from "time-out" then I would think that the monitor is having a problem with it's backlighting system. Have you had any problem with black screen while doing constant keyboard and mouse movement? Try adjusting time-out settings under "Control Panel" then "Display" then "Power" and select not to turn off monitor. See if that fixes the problem. 12fixlouie

Dell m992 crt monitor

If it's getting no signal, make sure the monitor is set for the correct input. This would be either analog (if your cord has blue ends) or digital (if the connectors are white). Depending on wt yhat your monitor is, a button on the monitor will help you set that. If it's set for the correct input signal, then switch out a different cable to see if perchance you have a bad cable out of the box. If there is another PC or laptop setting around, plug your monitor into that to make sure it's good and maybe even plug THAT monitor into yours to make sure there is nothing wrong with your video card. Let me know what transpires. If this takes care of things, please help me out by rating it accordingly.

No signal on monitor

You probably have 2 monitor connections. you have a standard one, and one that is through a graphics card at the bottom of your tower. Check for that second connection and switch the plug.. that should solve it.

See the link below. White cable is better than blue. Don't connect both!
