Light is new,but only lights up extremely dim, possible solutions

The light on my snowblower cracked, after it was replaced the new light was terribly dim. Is there some way to clean '' magneto'' to get more power generated to supply light or is there some other solution for this problem ? We have had a lot (Record Breaking) of snow and I don't always have the time to clear driveway before dark.

An old trick. If you can find a smaller wattage bulb that wil fit,it's life will be shorter but light brighter. WE used to place 6 v headlamps in 12 volt cars, for example. I am thinking you have a 6 volt battery system on your mower, though.

If you did not put gas stabilizer in your fuel tank when you stored your machine the gas will turn into varnish. Try draining the gas and put new gas and try to start it. Good luck

I have an old snowblower (ca. 1980's?) that runs like a top - the only problem is that the auger drive chain pops off the rear (smaller) sprocket in heavy snow, no matter how tightly (or loosely)

First remove the chain--- lay it flat on the floor --streched lengthwaze . grab either end and pull out and push back--- if chains length moves more than a quarter of a inch ---replace the chain. Next inspect the sprokets, if they are worn inward on the side they will let the chain drop on too far making the chain jump and rattel as it runs and this will throw the chain. Next inspect allignment of each spoket to the next sprokets with belt drive the belt will flex and this is not critical with chain drive this will load one side of each spoket causing the chain to jump off.

Have to full Choke to run snowblower

If you are using ethanol... DON'T!!! The symbol for Ethanol should be the middle finger. Ethanol ruins small engines because it leaves a corn residue in the bottom of you tank so when the engine is sucking fuel through the fuel lines it also sucks some of the residue with it. Because the lines are smaller in a snow blower that stuff can build up quick and it starves the engine of fuel. Kind of like how people have heart attacks. So there for you engine is needing less air and more fuel so that is why you have to have the choke on full all the time because the choke regulates the fuel to air ratio. If you are not using Ethanol the still check your gas lines because over time the lines dry up to the point they chip and crack. If it is chipped and cracked the fuel may slowly be leaking. Just because you can't see the leak does not mean it's not there. It could also make the pump struggle to create a suction because it would be sucking air so then again your engine would be struggling for fuel. Worst comes worst just take it to the shop to have the engine looked at. 50 bucks out of your pocket could last 10 years depending on the quality of the replacement parts.

Sometimes engine shuts off,and then it might start again or I'll let it sit and it starts, this time it won't start I have changed the gas filter, checked the spark,it has a steady spark on one plug and the...

My name is Dane and I'll try to help you with your problem.

I think you have a bad coil. A coil will operate fine on initial startup, but go bad after warming up. Get a cheap coil tester from an auto parts store an install it between the spark plug and the plug wire. Be careful on the next step because the engine can start. Turn the engine over and check for a bright light on your tester. If the light is dim or not producing at all, replace the coil. If the engine starts, allow it to run until it dies then recheck. If your coil checks ok, The other possibility is that your float isn't allowing the fuel to enter the carb fast enough to keep up with the demand of the engine. Thus, the engine sits idle, the carb bowl fills and it will run for a while until it goes dry again. This is caused from bad gas and deposits in your carb. You will probably need to remove, dissasemble, soak, and use compressed air to blow out the jet's in your carb. Pay close attention to how the carb is attached to the engine. Make a drawing if you need to. Disassemble the carb as far as possible and put it in the cleaning solution. Do not place rubber parts in the solution.Allow it to soak in cleaner overnight, and then blow out the ports and jets with compressed air before you assemble and reinstall it.

I hope I've helped. Thanks! Dane

Is there a GENERIC Snow thrower for John Deere 110?

Two Stage - Snowblower - Snow thrower - Bercomac All of the Bercomac attachments are interchangeable on the same quick hitch mounting. Bolts on in minutes. What a great idea for people who have more than one tractor or buy a new one. No more having to go and buy all new attachments for the new small tractor, just buy a different model hitch kit if it doesn't use the same one. The resale value is preserved when you can sell your attachments to be used on another size or model lawn and garden tractor.

Ariens Snowblower won't engage into drive

I had the same problem with my 5HP Dual stage (C950-520240) Canadian model and found that the arm connected to the traction cable (part #85449 "Shaft Traction Clutch") which forces the friction disk up to the rubber friction wheel had a cracked weld and had bent, preventing positive contact with the rubber friction wheel. The drive wheels would turn if you lifted the back of the machine off the ground, but would not work if under load. First I replaced the belt and rubber friction wheel, but no go. I had to basically disassemble the whole drive assembly to find the problem, very frustrating because you could not see the crack in the arm from head on. I had the cracked and bent arm straightened and welded, all is OK now. enb54.jpg
