I have a uniden bc246t how can i get it to load channels, scan hold nothing stored

Hi,

Rather than loading frequencies via software, try programming manually, if that's going to be to hard, perhaps getting hold of a copy of the user manual (available from Radioshack or similar store) and it will tell you how in a step by step way.

You must have a list of frequencies in hard copy format to be able to do this, I've never used software to program my scanners, including my Uniden UBCD996T digital scanner, after all, half the fun is programming your favorites manually, so you learn how the scanner works.

I hope this is useful to you.
Cheers,
Peter

I have a uniden BC246T and want to reset it and just add my local frequencies. but cant seem to figure it out.

The easiest way to program your scanner is to download software from www.butel.nl for your scanner. You will be able to manage your scanner better and you can download frequencies for your area from www.radioreference.com .

You can download and print the factory manual for your scanner, at no cost, here:

You can also find a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area (they're not codes), and a lot of other useful scanning information, here:

I have frequesncies already programed in i want to know how to re program it so i can hear everything the PD and Fire are saying

Just enter the new frequency into the channel that you want to reprogram. It will automatically delete/replace the current freq. Need the manual for your scanner? You can download/print it here:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC246Tom.pdf

Manual Programming of the Uniden BC95XLTB

1. The scanner automatically selects the band, you just program the frequency.
2. Your scanner does not have the traditional channel/frequency layout that you may be used to. Rather, it uses a system called DYNAMICALLY ALLOCATED CHANNEL MEMORY, which organizes frequencies into groups and systems, and enables the scanner to cover a wide variety of conventional and trunked radio systems.

The manual for the scanner goes into detail on the various systems and programming methods, and you can download/print the full manual here:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC246Tom.pdf

If it seems a bit overwhelming you might want to join a scanner group on line or in your area and draw on their experiences with the 246. You can also pick up a lot of useful information on the scanner, and access a comprehensive database of active frequencies/systems in your area by joining
www.RadioReference.com

To simplify the programming process, you can join the Radio Referenc group and purchase programming software from BuTel (http://www.butel.nl/) Their program for the BC246T will allow you to access the RadioReference database, select what you want to monitor, and import/program the information to your scanner.

Sorry, but the days of the Bearcat III with it's manually selectable bands and 8 "rocks" are gone, and today's complex radio systems require complicated scanners to keep up with them. As more and more areas upgrade to trunking systems, machines like the 246 will become the norm.

I have a problem programming my uniden scanner

You didn't mention whether or not you have a manual for the scanner, so here's a link where you can download it:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC246Tom.pdf

Conventional frequency systems and trunking systems require different programming steps, and the manual will walk you through them in detail. You can program the scanner manually, using the keypad, or you can use the included cable with appropriate software to program using your computer. No-cost software is available on the Uniden web site, or you can purchase more useful software from BuTel. ScannerMaster.com is the best source for the BuTel software.

Cannot program my bc246t

There are two ways to program your scanner. One is to do it manually. The second is to use a computer. The easiest way especially if you are programming alot of frequencies and alpha tags is to use a computer. Having said this I believe that you first should learn how to program manually so that you understand how the scanner works.

Email me and let me know what area you live in and give me an idea of what you would like to listen to. I may be able to help.
