I took off and disassembled the door the Maytag Oven Door on New Years Day. It turns out that the oven vents are located on a PLASTIC part that would not be paintable. O decided to replace the part #778537 that was about $30 from repairclinic.com Also decided to replace the oven door trim insert (also very stained) since it was only $8 (part # 778514) . I decided painting plastic parts was not a good idea. Also this Maytag Oven, Model Number MER5770AAA, oddly seems to be called Almond at times and also Bisque color. So was not sure what color paint I would need. Does anyone know if Almond and Bisque are in fact that same color when it comes to Appliances such as Oven/Ranges?? Also What color is the Maytag MER5770AAA model Range? Is it almond or is it Bisque?

Re: Almond or Bisque Color the same??
Your range is almond. The AA at the end of the model number is the color code for almond. Paint on a range may be affected by high heat be sure to use one that is tolerant of high heat. Almond is more yellow and bisque is more white, not the same color.

Press and hold the oven lock
button for approximately three seconds to turn off the oven lock. The
oven lock button has a symbol of a padlock on it. You will hear a beep
when the oven lock is turned off. You can now open the oven door and
operate the oven as normal
To unlock the oven turn off the oven and unplug it for 10-20 minutes. Let the oven cool and plug it back and check. If the oven door doesn't unlock then start the self clean cycle again and cancel the cycle after 15 minutes. Now let the oven cool down and try to unlock the door. If it still doesn't open then unplug the oven and you have to open the control panel and remove the door lock. Remove the three screws from the bottom of the control panel. You'll heed a 1/4" open wrench. Pull the bottom of the control panel toward yourself and push it up to release from the upper tabs. The door lock is secured by the three screws. Hope this helps... Daniel
Ok open the door to about 1/3 of the way the door will rest there when you let go. Now pull straght up on the door. The door will slide right off. Pull the screws out that hold the door together. look at the bottom of the door then look on both sides for screws. remove them all. Pull the door apart and you can get to the screws that hold the handle on.
Good Day Hope this helps.
I have the same problem. Two years ago the service representative came to my house to replace the door seal in my upper oven. He had to take the door apart to remove and replace the part. I used that opportunity to clean the interior glass partitions. I watch how he took it apart and put it back together again. I would not recommend trying it yourself. Also, local service reps. would clean it for you for a nominal fee. The problem is taking the bigger heavier door in which I have to do with mine.
I WOULD LOOK AT THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY AS THE DEFECT. THERE IS USUALLY A SWITCH THAT TELLS THE CONTROL IF THE DOOR IS LOCKED OR NOT. IF THE SWITCH HAS SHORTED CLOSED, THE CONTROL THINKS THE DOOR IS LOCKED AND WON'T DO ANYTHING BUT CLEAN.
MOST OF THE ASSEMBLIES ARE UNDER THE RANGE TOP.
YOU MAY HAVE TO REMOVE TWO SCREWS FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TOP AT EACH OF THE FRONT CORNERS. OPEN THE OVEN DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS.
IT WILL BE LOCATED IN THE CENTER. THE DOOR HOOK THAT STICKS OUT TO ENGAGE THE DOOR IS PART OF THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY.
you need to remove the door. On your model just grab the door and lift and it should lift right off.
Then remove the screws that run along the bottom of the door. Remove the bottom trim and the glass should slide down and off.
Reverse to assemble
