Sony CFD-S300 boombox would not run CDs (by 2 users)

When I put a CD into the player, it sounds like it is spinning the CD but then it gives up for some reason and never plays it. The platter on the top is "Really" loose. I read in one of the solution if it is too close, the laser cannot focus. May be thats what going on in here !!
How do I fix the platter?

Wizwhat i would suggest you to do is get a q-tip and a little bit of rubbing alcohol on the tip and gently clean the lens let it dry
