You may need a new relay, or the compressor is bad, but i would change the relay first.

This is a common problem with refrigerators. The first thing that you want to check is the relay and overload on your compressor. I know this blog is about an LG refrigerator but it will be the exact same way on your Kenmore.

Lg Refrigerator compressor comes on for about 5 seconds

Kenmore Coldspot - both the refrigerator and freeze suddenly stopped blowing cold.

If the fridge is running and you can hear it cycling(click, ~5 sec, click), then pull the fridge away from wall, take cardboard access panel off, 1/4" hex head, attatched to the compressor(black dome shaped bout the size of a volleyball) is a relay, take it off, if it sounds like a baby rattler when you shake it, it's bad. Check this first. If yours doesn't have this, then it has a timer. Timer might be bad. Not telling the heater when to turn off. Which is causing the fridge to not continue cooling, obviously.

Kenmore hum click sound

Bad overload relay or bad compressor. You can change your overload relay to test, usually fairly cheap, (55.00 from Sears) however if it is your compressor, it is out of it's five year warrantee and is not worth repair. 900 to 1100.00 to repair in my area.

My refrigerator dosen't cool or freeze

the hot piece is the compressor.the clicking is the relay trying to start the compressor.generaly when im out on a service call and the compressor is hot and relay clicking the compressor has failed internally.because if the relay was clicking but the compressor was not hot there was a chance only the relay was bad and not allowing power into the compressor.but because the compressor is hot that tells me the relay is letting the power to the compressor but the compressor cant do anything with it because it locked up and its absorbing that power getting hot and then clicking on overload you could try a relay but i don't think it will help. God bless ,tom

I also have the same refrigerator model 106.56566400 and periodically when the power goes off in the house the refrigerator & freezer will stop cooling. Try pushing the on/off button located inside the refrigerator to the left of the digital temperature controls. Hold the button down, this turns the unit off, then press it again to turn it back on. This basically resets the refrigerator, and most of the time works to get the refrigerator cooling again. Try this first before calling a repair man.
