I have the Samsung Rant (SPH_M540) through Sprint. This is actually my third one, and it seems both samsung and sprint are giving me the runaround about it. CUrrently the instant messaging feature does not work on the phone, and any time I use the internet there is alot of stalling/freezing for 2-4 minutes at a time. Also my call history randomly disappers.
I have found that disabling the key guard keeps it from freezing almost completely. Also, disabling and enabling bluetooh causes it to freeze - but that usually only lasts for a few seconds. It's definately the issue with the key guard for my phone that causes the problem.
