I simply cannot get my Ryobi line trimmer replacement to flow smoothly- is there a trick to threading it...i spend longer doing that than trimming....help
This is a common problem. Make sure you are using the manufacturer's recommended line. When winding the line, try to coil it in nice even rows. This helps me to get a better feed. Good Luck!

The line off the top of the primer bulb goes to the top of the carburetor.
The line on the bottom of the primer bulb goes to the fitting on the
center of the fuel tank and the line off the side of the fuel tank goes
to the bottom of the carburetor.

How to replace line in a garden Line Trimmer. ... Ryobi 40-VoltLithium-Ion Cordless String Trimmer RY40210 - Real World Review & How To ...
you can replace the head of the unit as it is bolted on left-handed threads, Lowes, HomeDepot, Wally world, Kmart, basically any discount store sells replacement heads for weed-eaters. hope this helped Tim
If i know which head you are talking about then, it is a self feed that you wind the line in at through the holes right?? the black center nut comes off. using pliers twist it off, it is threaded.
Hi there, takes a bit of working out without a manual, but try this....take bottom half of trimmer line spool off, get piece of spool line approx 60 cm, long and thread through centre holes, ( bit fiddly but ) pull line through until you have equal length on both sides, dont try and wind it up onto the spool, just put ends of line through outside cover holes, then lock spool in place in other half. now simply wind the knob at the end and the line should retract into the spool., sounds complicated but really isnt, best regards and good luck, Philbee
Hi! With the red know in one hand, push the spool down with th other to the female threaded shaft comes to the top. Then, hold the red know in the other hand with your index finger on the bolt in the middle, holding it down. Now start threading it onto the female shaft COUNTERCLOCKWISE! Once you get it, it get's easier. Good Luck!~Frank~
To install string in the Ryobi you do not have to disassemble anything: Line up the two arrows on the inner and outer reel, remove any excess string, cut two
pieces of string about 10 feet, feed line in the side holes, secure
line in hole where it comes out the bottom (it only takes about 1/4in.
to do so), pull strings tight, then turn the inner reel counter clockwise to wind it. If
it sticks a little just pull line a little.
To remove the inner spool in order to remove line that has broken
inside, to clean the mechanism, or to perform other maintenance, grasp
the outer reel and unscrew the bump knob counter-clockwise. Mine is
often very tight and requires pliers to get enough leverage. While you
are in there, clean the inner reel and the inside of the outer reel to
improve feed performance. The shaft rarely needs cleaning. Do not
lubricate. After re-installing the reel, add string (0.080") as
described above.
