How to set dvd recorder to multi zone for playback
SOme DVD's will playback -others won't. I have 8 zones with Level 8 being ''all''. I assumed that *all* would mean multi zone but it doesn't. Choosing Zone 2 doesn't allow playback of that zone either. Any ideas on how to configure the DVD to allow this? It is a Panasonic EH68

Hi Thanks for using FixYa. There are the following two methods to
make it region free--- Method 1: No disc in tray; Press STOP; Press SET-UP: KEY IN 3, 8, 8, 8, 3 then
0 for zone free Method 2: 1. Remove DVD/CD from your drive. 2. Press the following keys on your remote: [Setup] [>=10]
    3. A new menu option will appear – named other followed by four
stars. Use Codes: 3192 -> Multi-Region Enable Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else
revert for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
well have you checked the zone on the disk cos if its a cheap dvd player it may not be able to read zone 2 or any other zones, zones are usually what different countries deal with but also there`s the -R or +R problem for example my dvd recorder records in -R cos its a pioneer but sony records in both + and -R if all else fails send it back to where ever you brought it from and get them to sort it.

I sent an e-mail to Panasonic New Zealand to ask about this, and they advised: "Panasonic NZ no longer pre set DVD recorders or players
for all region multi-zones.However, we will multi-zone for all
regions on request. This needs to be done by an
Authorised Service Centre, as a special service remote is
used.Once delivered to one of these
agents, the service company will charge the fee to Panasonic
If you're not in NZ, try contacting Panasonic in your own country. Just call up www.panasonic with your country code after eg. US = .com and NZ = .co.nz. It seems a *lot* easier than all those complicated hacks on the net. Now all I have to do is work out how to disconnect my DVD recorder again, and try to
PS. I realise this question is 11 months old by now, but I hope my response helps someone like me just cruising the internet looking for help.
The dual zone control on the KD-AVX1 is only for playback of two seperate devices. For example an audio cd or dvd in the head unit is played through the front speakers and an external device like an i-pod,cd changer or any other AV device will play through the rear speakers.Either way you need an external audio or AV device for the dual zone to work.I hope this helps.. Good luck..
