Question about SanDisk Sansa Shaker SDMX9N-512 MP3 Player

MP3 player wont play any songs

I downloaded music on both my kids Sansa Shakers and they both worked just fine. After about 20 mins my sons stopped working and I figured it was the battery so I put a new battery in it and it still doesnt work. I then put my daughters memory card in my sons Shaker and it worked just fine. I gave my son the memory card out of my phone and it too worked just fine. Now, a day later none of the memory cards work so I used the USB cable so I could go in and delete the songs and for ALL 3 memory cards used in the Sansa Shaker, it is stating that they have zero capacity and zero used. Its like the devise is burning out the memory cards. Can you please tell me why this is happening.

Same here. It worked for almost one month. Now it just turns on and nothing happens. Yes, yes, yes, I've done fresh batteries and all that.

Happened to us too - we used it for six months, but now it won't play any songs. It turns on, but that's it.

This is happening to me 2! I've had it now for 5 days and it's only worked 3 days. I've tried everything! I cannot get it to work!

  • dmmw5 Mar 19, 2009

I just bought them for my kids and in the 24 hours I've had them they've been nothing but trouble- turning off randomly, music stops playing even though device is still on (have tried new batteries a few times). Seems a waste of money so far.

All of a sudden stops working. Just clicks for the start and then -zero. I replaced the SanDisc Memory card with another - in a minute the same happened. Cannot be recognised by the PC, cannot do anything!

    Same issue.
It was working fine this morning and for about 1 month with occasional use. Thinking it was the battery, I changed it. Connected to the Mac and it just didn't recognize the card so I had to reformat it. Once it was readable, I uploaded songs. It now turns on (drum roll) and does the "uh-oh" sound occasionally. Another set of new batteries do not help and so I reconnected the Shaker to the computer to see if the card got erased. It reads ok and I can see the songs (.mp3) loaded. I still do not know why it does not play the songs.

Can you please tell me why the Sansa Shaker is not recommended for kids under 8 years old. I'd like to buy it for my 5 year old son, and wonder if it's OK if he simply listens through the speakers rather...

It is totally fine for him to listen through the speakers. The mp3 for me wasn't that good, mostly because some of my songs would download and the mp3 player wouldn't play the songs. It would probably be fine for your 5 year-old, maybe the company thinks you have to be 8 and up to be careful and not brake an mp3. Other than that, I have no clue.

Hi my sansa shaker wont play music

Make sure the songs are in the right file format first. I would only download songs that are in mp3 format for starters. If it is still not playing, follow the reset method that the manual suggests. If it is still not working, it may be defective. These "windowless" players are the most difficult to use, because there is no on-screen display to let you know what's going on.

Sansa shaker mp3 player

I bought one of these for my son this Christmas and it's been nothing but problems.

It wouldn't play songs in folders. So i deleted the folders and dropped in mp3's and it played fine for a while. Then it just stopped working. Changed the battery and it still wouldn't work. Plugged it into our PC and couldn't access the sandisk at all. Windows would recognize the device but upon clicking on it I was asked to insert a disk into the drive.

Two days later I try again and this time it insists that the drive has not been formatted. So I format the drive, losing all the data that I couldn't access anyway and I was finally able to drag more songs onto the players disk. All of the songs previously on the player were gone of course.

It played fine for a few minutes but then it began to shut off after about 20 seconds of play. I double checked the format on the songs on the player to make sure they were mp3. I tried using different songs - same results. And now it's returned to my original problem. I can't access the sandisk and windows is asking me to insert a disk into the drive.

This very simple to use player is so simple that's it's a defective piece of junk.

My sandisk e260 wont play songs i down loaded

Well, I may have a solution. Some music websites or "free" mp3 websites put a type of license or protection thing on the files that you download so that when you try to listen to them, you can only use certin software/music players and also make it so you cannot use any of the files on your mp3 player/iPod. I tried a place called emusic.com and they say you get 20, or so, free downloads BUT you can only use their music player for them. And the funny thing is, they have avertisements in about half of the packages of new mp3 players in the market. Try looking at their policy or license on the website to see if you can put the songs on your mp3 player. Good luck, and have a nice day.

My sansa wont work HELP PLZ

Ok, I have a Sansa e250 2.0 BG. I have an extra memory card but w/e thats not part of the problem. So, when I downloaded music, I accidently put more music on the Sansa memory and it made it too full. So now it has to do a system restart everytime I turn it on. Which is really annoying. And then I tried to delete some music so It would stop doing that and I could update it, But it shows up on my computer as there being no music. So theres nothing to delete! But it says the memory is full! HELP!!!!
