Sounds like you might have a broke spring. Put the door all the way down and release the manual release. Now try to lift the door. If the door is heavy you might have to call a door company in your area to add tension to your springs or if they are broken both springs should be replaced.

My liftmaster 1265LM will not close with the remotes, but will close only if I hold the wall button. Please advise.

Sounds like a door sensor problem. Make sure the sensors are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a little. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

My Craftsman garage door opener opens fine. It

It could be closing too far or the sensitivity could be set too sensitive.

Lube the springs, wd-40 rust may be the whole problem.

If the door hits and the opener continues to move until the rail flexes upward and then reverses - probably the travel adjustment.

Does the door close and stay closed if you hold the wall button down constant until it closes? - this would indicate a safety eye problem.

If the door reverses before it hits the floor or just as it hits the floor it could be the sensitivity or if the safety eyes are mounted to the track they could be flexing enough to move the eyes out of alignment.

Hope this helps.

The sensor lights are steady. The opener cycles fine withouit the garage door connected. Everything worked fine until yesterday. I hit the open remote and the garage door did not open. I hit close and it...

Remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. Also check the door springs. One of them could be broken.

Door opens after closing

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem but if the door is hitting the floor and reversing and the main light is not flashing then the door is closing too far and the safety thinks it has hit something. On the side of the motor unit you will find 2 controls. One of these is the 'down limit'. Turn this in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover until the door closes but does not reverse.

Craftsman garage door opener

IF IT HITS THE FLOOR AND GOES BACK UP. YOU NEED TO ADJUST THE DOWN LIMIT.

IF IT GOES BACK UP BEFORE HITTING THE FLOOR YOU NEED TO ADJUST THE SENSITIVITY OR THE SAFETY EYES.

TRY THE DOOR MANUALLY AND MAKE SURE IT WORKS SMOOTHLY.
