Question about Electrolux Epic 3500 Vacuum

Electrolux Epic 3500 SR electrical problem

We were using this vacuum which we inherited from mom & dad, and it just stopped while vacuumed. I pushed the red reset button and it came on for a fraction of a second. Will not come on now at all.

I pulled the vacuum apart in my shop (we love this vacuum- it works well for our small carpeted home) and I am wondering if the white switch may be bad, or where to get it, or to really know for sure. We have never had a problem with this vacuum for many years. I don't see any broken parts.

Thanks in advance for your advice, tommy blake

My switch went bad for the 2nd time in 10 years. When it started feeling hot up on the handle, I knew it was going, but stupidly I kept using it. The motor runs fine for the #2 part of the switch. This one turns the brush, but I cannot run it without the brush turning, which I use for wood floors and all the attachments. When I opened it up too look, I found switch is fried. Lucky I did not have a fired. I have no idea how it was running at all. After checking online, I did find the switch for it for $6.95 plus shipping. One of the local vacuum repair stores has it here and is charging $12.00. In other words, it can be found probably replaced easily as long as the switch or wiring is not too fried. Looks pretty easy to replace. It has three connectors. Good Luck!

Bought our Electrolux Epic 3500 SR used. The best vacuum we've ever owned! Trouble is that it just quit running. My daughter accidentally knocked the handle against a cabinet and it wouldn't start again. My husband checked the switch and it seemed okay. Seems to me that maybe a connection was knocked loose, but can't find where.

Can you please help? We love our vacuum and need to get it working again!

It sounds like your motor may have finally died. If you have it apart, but with all the wiring still intact, you can check to see if you have voltage at the motor terminals with a volt meter or a multimeter. Take care when doing this as the power switch has to be in the on position and there are several exposed points with 110vac. If you have 110vac at the motor terminals, and the motor isn't running then you definitely have a bad motor. If you don't have voltage there, just start tracking back towards the power cord until you find where you do have 110vac. But from the description of your problem (tripping the breaker), my guess would be the motor has failed. I hope this helps. Good Luck and be SAFE!

What kind of bag for the epic series 3500 sr

"U" (upright) style bags, available at any Aerus Electrolux store, or from their consultants. These are the genuine bags made only by Home Solutions. Generic bags WILL decrease the lifespan of the motor.

Does anyone know how to get the bottom off the electrolux Epic 3500 SR I need to check the beater brush? Thanks Jim

Actually the top comes off from the bottom base. Remove the underside screws, flip the machine over and gently remove the gray cover from the motor and brush assembly. Once inside, remove two more screws holding down the brush cover which is also part of the tunnel. It will reveal the brush, belt, and much dirt so be prepared.

My Electrolux series 3500 SR won't power on.

Most likely the cord has a broken wire you can't see (near the plug) or; the switch is bad.
Either is a fairly simple repair.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Your problem may be solved as simply as pushing the small red reset button exposed on top of the power head when you tilt the arm back. Very simple. Hope this helps.
