Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 Webcam

1 Answer

The video will freeze and go blank

Everything seems to be working then the video feezes and goes black. We will reopen the program and it will say initialization error? HELP! This is frustrating...I've had this thing since June and still haven't been able to figure it out, with the little free time I have had available.

How much memory do you have installed in your computer. This can be a factor why it freezes up.
You can also try this.
Normal 0 Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud

I have it everything installed but the camera just freezes.

What operating system are you using, Windows 7?
Did yo install the correct driver for your operating system?
If you did the above and it still doesn't work, I would restore your system to an earlier date than when you installed the webcam, and try to install the drivers for it, and try to use it.
More drastically, if it still doesn't work, then I would try 'Recovery' console to make your computer have the original settings from the factory, automatically install all Windows updates, then install the camera and reboot, and see if it works then. However, the latter method will destroy all of your data, so back it up before you do that.

The above link described your product but didn't have any FAQ's or Troubleshooting information regarding 'intialization error.'

I noticed that there was an optimized for Windows Live Messenger software package downloadable from the above site.

I wish you luck on getting your Lifecam VX-3000 to work on your computer.

My Screen freezes then goes blank

I had already done the things that your expert suggested. This morning I purchased a new web cam but the same problem occurred. I took my computer back to the shop where I had just had a new motherboard, graphics card, processor and RAM put into my computer. They managed to solve the problem as it was the problem with 'frame rates per second' that the graphics card was set at. It was on 60 but should be on 85fps. What he did was Rt Click on desktop, > properties, > settings, > advanced > monitor to change the settings. Now problem is solved.

Go to "TOOLS", click on "OPTIONS," Then go to "Audio Settings" and click on it. Make sure both the Microphone and Speaker's are correctly chosen. Then "make a free test call."
