Ive got a sega megadrive and i want to get it working on my lcd tv , Can i ??

yup lcd tv's today still have cable inputs. so u should be able to.

question u can answer for urself. whats the point of a sega megadrive. like there is only 1 game preloaded (sonic) and it doesn't even have sound.

the only thing i liked about the system over the other sega is that it has headphone jacks.

Hi some new TV'S may not have the frequency of these old consoles i recommend purchasing a AV cable which is can be found at http://www.gameoz.com.au/store/sega-mega-drive/mega-drive-accessories/sega-mega-drive-1-av-cable.html

No tuning in a channel and better picture Quality

Video but no sound on sega megadrive 2

Nothing wrong with the tv or the cartages or even how you hooked it up

its the wire that connects the tv to the console, these some/a waire broken on the inside.

gotta get another one, or find the brake and twist it around till they meat then put some duck tape or something around it to keep it in place

SEGA MEGADRIVE

dont know how many times ive said this but
GET AN OLDER TV
it saves all that time you use trying to hook it up to a new one..it doesnt even have to be that old just not a plasma or HD tv, its much MUCH easyer and saves lots of time, and mabie even money

Ive got a black sega mega drive but cant seem to locate a channel.. am i doing something wrong with the wires

you need to have an old-ish tv...and you need to choose one channel, any one and tune it in...you need to keep going untill you either have a black screen or the game youve inserted..

TURN YOUR MEGADRIVE ON WHILE TUNING

if youve done that and you still dont have it it might be the wire

I just aquired a sega megadrive 2 with all leads but no instructions. can you tell me how to set it up please? Michael

First plug the power plug into the mega drive and turn it on (there should be a red light showing that the megadrive is on)

Plug RF lead into the back of the mega drive and TV and make sure the switch is set at the megadrive side and not the ariel side, if you have a switch.

Now turn off mega drive, put a game into the slot and and then turn the console on.

Select a channel on your TV and tune it into the mega drive.

This should work.

With my sega megadrive11 system when tuned in only sound comes no picture

Hi Wisebear,

First It maybe your TV not tuning in properly.
to try this go to your TVs Tuning menu and select manual tuning and fine tune around the sound and see if this helps...

second it may be the lead (worn wire) and not enough signal getting through, so you need a new cable

you may just want to upgrade to a scart lead
www.retro-cache.com
sells the scart lead for Megadrive 2's and soon will be doing Megadrives 1's as well, both RGB.

don't panic
sometimes the LED goes on the Megadrive
so try to tune it in anyway. (clean a game and put it in)
also sometimes you can get a "Dry joint" at the power port at the back of the megadrive.
this is fixed by unscrewing the megadrive and a little solder on the each of the 3 joints.
