Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

When filling the machine, the water does not shut off.

I have a kenmore top load special edition washing machine. the pump was leaking, so I replaced the pump with a new one. I noticed, when I had the machine apart, that there was a black ring of moldy **** around the top of the drum. I took a pressure washer to wash this black **** out of the machine. Now when the machine fills the water does not turn off. It will over fill the tub. I checked the size of load switch and it seems to be working, when you blow pressure into it the water quits filling. could you please help with this problem. thank you.

You probably have a tiny hole in the hose that leads to the pressure switch. you can pull the hose off and see if youcan locate the hole and if the hole is close to one of the ends you can just cut that section off but if it is in the middle you will need to replace the hose

My Kenmore 700 series washer has been leaking water. When the tub is filling with water, water seems to leak along the front bottom edge of the machine in several areas. I'm left with a huge puddle of...

First ck to see if your water pump is leaking. It normally leaks when the machine is running not just filling. Also look at all the attaching rubber hoses under the machine and see if water is leaking down the back right side of the machine and then running around the frame to the front long shot but possible.

Washer Leaking from left front...

That would be your drain pump and/or drain hoses. You will need to access the inside of the washer by removing the outside casing to get a good view. The following link explains:

The link explains how to replace the pump. Although you may not have a bad pump, it gives all the steps necessary to disassemble the washer to get to it. I would recommend you fill the tub about a third of the way then shut the washer off. This will fill the tub enough to determine where the leak may be coming from. Check both drain hoses for cracks or splits and make sure the clamps are tight. If the pump is leaking, it is NOT repairable. These are sealed units and will require replacing if damaged. You can purchase a new pump (if needed) at Just type in your complete model number and the pump should be listed as item number 3296 (part number 3363394).

This a simple job that requires not special tools to accomplish. I hope you find this information helpful.

Washing machine leakes some where frome the bottom of washer

It sounds like you pump is leaking. This happens most of the time( if its a kenmore or whilpool)lean your washer back and then you will see the pump on the end of the motor. it is held on by 2 clips and then you can take it off (after pulling iff the 2 water hoses) Look at where the motor shaft goes onto the pump if its leaking there will be a water streak. Replace the pump... leak is fixed

Leak top load kenmore

Excellent use of your deductive reasoning skills. You may be right on both assumptions. It is not uncommon for the pump or the drain hoses to develop leaks over a period of time. You will need to remove the outside casing of the washer, however to get a good look. This link explains how to replace the washer pump:

Even if it is not the pump, it gives you necessary steps on how to disassemble the washer. Step 7 of the write up tells you where the pump is located. Inspect the two hoses for cracks and leaks as well.

NOTE: You will need to by-pass the lid switch, however, with the case removed in order to fill the washer with water. can fill the wash tub partially, shut the unit off, unplug the washer and remove the case and look for the leak that way as well. Let me know if you wish to attempt to by-pass the lid switch - this does not involve cutting and splicing any wires.

If you require further assistance please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Kenmore Washing Machine

Open up behind, after taking off the wall power plug. Check to see it the hose from underneath the tub is loose, tighten. Or replace hose if damaged.
