Yogurt

Your yogurt machine is pretty much just an incubator. You can google for yogurt recipes, then you just turn it on, or hit start or set the timer or whatever.

I need instructions to use salton yogourt maker gm5

Basic Yogurt Recipe
4 cups (1 quart) milk - whole, 2 %, 1% or skim
1/4 - 1/2 cup instant non-fat dry milk powder
1/2 cup plain yogurt (with live cultures) or yogurt from a previous batch
  1. In a saucepan, combine milk and dry milk and heat over medium heat, stirring frequently to just below the boiling point. Remove the milk from heat and allow to cool until lukewarm (about 100 degrees). To cool the milk quickly, place the saucepan into the refrigerator or a sink of cold water, stirring occasionally to cool evenly. This takes about 20 minutes.

  2. Pre-warm the yogurt maker's heating base by plugging the cord into an electrical outlet. The signal light will glow when base is plugged in.

  3. Add plain yogurt to the warm milk, stirring gently to blend. Do not beat or whip. Pour the mixture into the yogurt container, secure the lid and place the covered container into the heating base. Cover the Yogurt Maker and process undisturbed and out of drafts for 4-10 hours, depending on tartness desired. Yogurt should be partially set after processing and will thicken further after refrigeration.

  4. After processing, unplug the cord from the outlet. Remove the cover and lift the covered yogurt container out of the heating base. Place the container in the refrigerator and chill at least two hours to thicken. If desired, remove 1/2 cup of the yogurt to use as a starter for future batches, before adding any fruit or flavoring. Keep yogurt refrigerated until use.

Maunual for Hamilton Beach Scovill Culture Center yogurt maker?

I have this model, the 726 orange rectangular model. The hour reminder is just a little piece of plastic that hooks onto the outside, and yes it should move easily. I don't know why yours doesn't, but since it doesn't go inside and touch anything edible, maybe you can try to grease it. You don't need to put any water in the 'wells'. My model has little round seats for the cups, but they're not deep enough for water; they are about 1 or 2 millimeters deep. you also don't need to put water in the main compartment. hope this helps. I see it's been 8 months since this posting.

Yogurt Maker plastic lids

I just picked up a used GM5 at a thrift store, and 2 of the lids say "Ball", a popular brand used for canning. I would bet they are replacement lids, so that is where I would start looking. In the event that no replacement can be found, I would give "Press and Seal" plastic wrap a shot. The stuff is AMAZING.
Now, I have no manual for my machine, and I hear you do.... if I were to ask nicely, would you send a copy my way? Please?

How do I use the salton ra10 rice cooker.

It came with a small plastic measuring cup. The ratio for that is 1 cup rice to 1 cup water (using the measuring cup for both items). Measure out your rice first, BUT for best results you need to rinse your rice several times (I do three times or until the water is fairly clear). Place rinsed rice in cooker and add equal amout of water . You can also add in your butter and salt at this time if you wish. put lid on cooker, plug it in and push the little lever down (it'll click). It will cook for about 20 minutes and the lever will pop up on its own. Don't do anything yet! you need to wait about 10-15 minutes more, or at least until the steam stops before you open the lid. The rice should be cooked perfectly.
There will (with this model) be a light brown crust on the bottom of the pan, butthe instruction manual said that it was a normal occurance (but it is a buggar to get that off-soaking for a couple hours helps).
I really like using rice cookers because they do a great job in cooking the rice. I hope this clarified how to use this model.
