I have the same issue. It only flashes :6, then keeps adding sixes and won't respond. I unplugged it for a day, came back and set the clock, and less than 5 minutes later it was doing the same thing.

My microwave is doing the same thing. I used it earlier today. Went to class, came back and it was beeping and flashing at me. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I can't set the clock or anything. All it does is beep and add 6's across the screen.

    Solution?

Same problem here.  I have unplugged and tried to reset which it took one time and lasted maybe a week.  Now none of the buttons on the touch pad are responsive.  There is only a year warranty on this mirowave and mine is one and one half years old.  We purchased at Sam's when remodeling the townhome and chose this one beause it fit into the cabinet.  I'm wondering if I should purchase a new microwave or if this one can be fixed.  I have an email into their Support.

Mine is the same, always 666 and beeping, none of the buttons work.

same here... just flashing 6's... resetting clock works sometimes for a few minutes, then the problem returns.. perhaps this is a defect? or maybe this is error code? i can not locate the manual, and this microwave is only a year old at most.. will not be buying this junk again.

Haha, I thought my girlfriend and I were the only ones having this problem. Maybe we should start a club on facebook. Anyways, it seems that when the microwave is allowed to be plugged in for an ample amount of time (about 2 weeks for us) it starts to "six" (the name we came up for it). If we unplug it for about 2 days and plug it back in, it takes a while to "six" again. I was so freaked out, it started doing this randomly one night and I was so freaked out it thought to myslef "I knew I should have gone to church the past 20 years". Well, damn being in college and only being able to afford a cheap microwave. We are damned for another 3 years to listen to this thing beep and scare the **** out of our guests.

Are you able to set the clock?

    The
first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a
minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

    If that doesn't work,
leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard
    reset does not fix it.

Please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.

Well I had the same problem. It made me start unplugging a microwave when it wasn't in use, which is always a plus.
When it does the whole 6666 thing, press 5 and then stop/reset. It usually allows me to input what I want after that.
Good luck people.

Mine woke up us around 4am this morning. After trying reset and it not working- we just unplugged it. Then when I got up- plugged it back in and the devil sixes cam back. I held the reset button down for a minute or so. It reset and I set the clock. Thought it was fixed. WRONG!! About an hour later I went to use it and could not enter any numbers or use any buttons on front. Then the sixes returned along with the beeping. I can hold the reset button for a minute or two and it temporarily stops but still cannot use any buttons and there fore cannot cook anything......The unit is only 6-8 months old.....I see I am not the only one with the possessed Chefmate microwave- Anyone know what the cause and actual long term fix on this is???? Many thanks!

Microwave doesn't work

Sounds like you have a faulty control panel. I would use a meter and test the power from the control board to the magnetron and circuit board. Chances are the control panel is faulty

Power on lights etc push start button but it clicks and nothing happens

Hello :

This could happen because of bad door switch or a loose door mount .This is the main reason that microwaves not heat even if the other functions work fine .

Warning : A microwave is capable to give you a serious electrical shock even when it's unplugged , so I recommend you to call a repair technician for help .

good luck .

I have Emerson Microwave #mw8999sv which has the Express Cook option- cooking 1 - 6 minutes. How do I cook for 1 minute 30 seconds, etc.? Thank you.

The owner's manual is here. On page 10 we find:

COOKING IN ONE STAGE
1. Press the POWER button; the Microwave and High
Cook indicators will light and “PL 10” will light in the
display.
2. Press the POWER button different times to set the
desired power; the display will show the percentage
you chose. If selecting power level 70%-10%, the
Low Cook indicator will light instead of the High
Cook indicator.
3. Press number keys to set the desired cooking time.
OPERATION(CONTINUED)
4. Press the START/+30SEC. button to start cooking;
the Microwave and one of the Cook indicators will
blink and the display will countdown the remaining
cooking time in minutes and seconds. It will beep
five times when cooking is completed.

Microwave does not heat

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

Here is a helpful link you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

Sanyo EM-P740w

It looks like you would enter the cooking time then press POWER 1 to 10 times. Once = 100%, twice = 90%, thrice = 80%, and so on, and "PL#" will appear in the display where "#" is the selected power level. On some models, twice = 80% and thrice = 60%, etc. and "80%", or "60%", etc., will appear in the display. Then press START. Did that do it?
