try googleing for gl1500 manual. you can get the service manual for free download this way. it has most anything you need to know. the owners manual i think is available too.

"Free" will be a problem. The best place to find a "free Owner's Manual" is to copy one from another Passat owner. You can purchase copies of the owner's manual from a variety of on-line sources, and even on eBay. Chances are that you are not the original owner, otherwise VW of America may be able to help. Unlike General Motors, VW does not offer downloadable copies of their Owner's Manuals from the VW Owners website.

I know you wanted one for free, unfortunatly I couldn't find anyone offering a manual for free so here is a link to the cheapest download its $4.50 to download the entire manual. hope that helps!
